Love my new mower. Cuts as good or better than any gas mower I have ever had. Clean cut and maintenance free.

Garbage - avoid unless you enjoy spending 5 hours mowing your lawn

Used for an entire grass season and was probably the worst 800 I’ve ever spent. Batteries are almost entirely shot after 1 season and the lawnmower struggles with just about any length of grass. Even in its turbo mode it just kicks. My neighbors get a kick out of watching me clean out my lawn mower 300+ times during a single session. I’ve sharpened the blades twice, tried everything to make sure I’m not losing my mind. Bottom line - electric lawn mowers blow. Gas powered is still the way to go, end of story. Unless you enjoy wasting your entire day mowing your lawn go with a gas mower. Even with the inconveniences of gas, filter changes etc - still worth it. Electric mowers are a cute idea, but that’s about all they are. An idea.

Hello Ruab,

We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower.
This unit is advertised as running up to 1hr. 20m. (w/ included batteries). It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life, here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.
2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.
3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.
4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.
5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. Using the self-propelled feature will reduce the runtime by half.
We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Pros and cons
on December 7, 2022

Disclosure - 50 year old female
Pros: cuts grass fast, one battery lasts my entire 1/4 acre, fast recharge, self propelled is nice and necessary as it's so heavy!
Cons: it's really heavy!!! (hard to turn and maneuver around trees, flowerbeds..etc., batteries are not compatible with other Greenworks tools, hard to get batteries out of charger (elderly hands), self-propelled is not personal pace
Overall I wouldn't by this mower again. I would get something smaller, lighter and with batteries that are compatible with other Greenworks tools.
Pros: Powerful

Hello DLM5774,

We appreciate you taking the time to review this product. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with this unit’s weight. This is our one of our most powerful voltage line and operates similar to a gas unit without the inconvenience of a gas product such as maintenance and gas. As such the weight of the unit does take some getting used to, however, we do have a range of tools for a variety of household chore needs. Lighter units can be found in our 24V and 40V lines but of course, these products would come with reduced power. Our Designers and Product Developers will occasionally read these reviews, so we really appreciate it when customers tell us what they think and share their experience with us.
Should you require further assistance, please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934.

Fell short of expectations and can't recommend
on September 20, 2025

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had high hopes for this electric lawnmower, but it’s been more frustrating than expected. The one real bright spot is the battery life — it easily runs long enough to finish my yard, which is better than many cordless models out there.
Unfortunately, that’s where most of the positives end. The mower just doesn’t cut well. The lack of lift means grass often lays flat instead of getting trimmed, so I’m forced to go over the same spots multiple times to get anything close to an even cut. What should be a quick mow ends up taking longer than it should.
On top of that, it’s much noisier than I anticipated for an electric mower. I was expecting something noticeably quieter than gas, but the sound level is surprisingly loud and not much of an improvement.
Overall, while the battery performance is solid, the poor cutting ability and unexpected noise make it hard to recommend.

Hello EricB. Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We are glad the battery life is working well for you long run time is one of the key strengths of this mower. For the cutting performance, we recommend checking that the blade is sharp and properly installed, as a dull or misaligned blade can cause grass to lay flat rather than lift and cut cleanly. Mowing when the grass is dry and at the proper height can also improve lift and reduce the need for multiple passes. Regarding noise, while electric mowers are typically quieter than gas, the sound can vary depending on grass thickness and mowing speed. We hope you will find this information useful. If you require any additional support or have questions regarding a product, we recommend try our Q&A section on the product's page or Chat with us direct on our website www.greenworkstools.com.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The machine is very nice. Very heavy and we'll built. The Grernworks website and registration are a nightmare. Terrible functionality. Be prepared to do everything multiple times. And there is NO CCONTACT NUMBER. The AI chat not is crap. I have parts that were included that are NOT im any of the included paperwork and I have no idea what they are for.

From gas to battery, Thumbs up!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy to go from a gasoline powered lawnmower to a battery powered lawnmower. This is a lot quieter than gasoline lawnmowers. This model comes with two batteries and a charger. For the size yard I have  one fully charged battery works well. My yard is not all one level so with it being self-propelled helps tremendously with the slight hill in my backyard. Overall I really like this lawnmower and do not see myself using my old gas lawnmower anytime soon. Would definitely recommend.

The future is here

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you have a small yard buy this. The reason why, is this. Do you know that feeling you had years ago when lithium ion battery drills came out? And you didnt have to charge every thirty minutes. That is the same feeling i got with the greenworks battery powered mower. I thought of all the time in life, cleaning spark plugs, storing gas, changing oil and realized "Wow, i dont have to do that any more". If you live in a climate where you put away the mower for sometimes a month at a time. Buy this. If your yard is big, perhaps more than a half acre, that is the only thing that would keep me from getting this.
Side note, it is weird to mow a law and be able to hear my kids play. So that was also a plus.
I would recommend this to a friend!
