Disclosure - 50 year old female
Pros: cuts grass fast, one battery lasts my entire 1/4 acre, fast recharge, self propelled is nice and necessary as it's so heavy! Cons: it's really heavy!!! (hard to turn and maneuver around trees, flowerbeds..etc., batteries are not compatible with other Greenworks tools, hard to get batteries out of charger (elderly hands), self-propelled is not personal pace
Overall I wouldn't by this mower again. I would get something smaller, lighter and with batteries that are compatible with other Greenworks tools.
Pros: Powerful
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello DLM5774,
We appreciate you taking the time to review this product. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with this unit’s weight. This is our one of our most powerful voltage line and operates similar to a gas unit without the inconvenience of a gas product such as maintenance and gas. As such the weight of the unit does take some getting used to, however, we do have a range of tools for a variety of household chore needs. Lighter units can be found in our 24V and 40V lines but of course, these products would come with reduced power. Our Designers and Product Developers will occasionally read these reviews, so we really appreciate it when customers tell us what they think and share their experience with us. Should you require further assistance, please contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934.

From gas to battery, Thumbs up!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am very happy to go from a gasoline powered lawnmower to a battery powered lawnmower. This is a lot quieter than gasoline lawnmowers. This model comes with two batteries and a charger. For the size yard I have one fully charged battery works well. My yard is not all one level so with it being self-propelled helps tremendously with the slight hill in my backyard. Overall I really like this lawnmower and do not see myself using my old gas lawnmower anytime soon. Would definitely recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] If you have a small yard buy this. The reason why, is this. Do you know that feeling you had years ago when lithium ion battery drills came out? And you didnt have to charge every thirty minutes. That is the same feeling i got with the greenworks battery powered mower. I thought of all the time in life, cleaning spark plugs, storing gas, changing oil and realized "Wow, i dont have to do that any more". If you live in a climate where you put away the mower for sometimes a month at a time. Buy this. If your yard is big, perhaps more than a half acre, that is the only thing that would keep me from getting this.
Side note, it is weird to mow a law and be able to hear my kids play. So that was also a plus.

Switching to an Electric Mower!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This Greenworks mower has convinced me to permanently make the switch to an electric mower. First of all the cut is uniform and beautiful, my front lawn has never looked better! The self-propelled feature is powerful and will pull the mower up any hills without issues because of how light the mower is. It comes with 2 batteries but only uses one battery at a time while both are plugged in. I was able to mow 1/2 acre with both batteries!

Great Little Mower!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Overall, this is a good mower. It is easy to move around. It cuts well and is fairly quiet. There was almost no odor out of the box. The battery charger stinks the first few times when charging batteries. However, after charging a few times, the odor just keeps going down it is barely noticeable now.
Easily cuts grass as tall as the motor housing. Be prepared to go slow though. When I did manage to kill it in thick grass nearly as tall as the motor (well above the front wheels), it needed to wait a few seconds before starting again and then started right up.
The batteries last about as long as advertised. By the time one is used up, the other is charged on the charging device. I tend to stop and pull weeds or other stuff such as watering the garden. I can pull this out of the shed, fold the handle into place, put on the bagger and just go. It's easy, it works, and handles what gas mowers can handle.
I like the bagger attachment. No more raking. My shoes are not covered in grass clippings and it picks up nearly all of what it cuts. When the bag gets full, the weight shifts to the rear. The front wheels come off the ground easily. You'll notice it's heavier in the rear, takes more effort to move, and if you keep going stuff will be left behind, that is because the bag is full and it can't go in there. Empty the bag and you're all set.
Overall, I am very satisfied with this mower. No gas fumes. Unit itself doesn't stink. Battery charger odor diminishes with use (the more batteries I charge, the less it smells). I don't have to rake with the bag attachment. The two batteries allow me to keep going until ... well, my body won't "go" anymore. Use one battery, charge the other. Seemingly endless run time with just the two batteries. Of course, you might have to wait in between the batteries if you run one out faster than the other (like with really tall grass).
Mower cycles itself high and low depending on what is being cut. It does this automatically. I find that when it revs higher, it can leave some stuff behind. So, I just pause while it revs up, back the mower up a couple inches, and then go forward. Seems to leave nothing behind that way. The mower will cycle down to the lower speed on its own. I have cut grass higher than the front wheels and the mower stayed on the low setting. And I have cut grass shorter than the front wheels and had the mower go to high. Depends on the grass characteristics. Also, if using the bag, depends on how full the bag is. If the bag is full, you will be on high almost constantly. Change the bag and it will go back to low, unless ... of course ... you are in tough grass and it needs high.

Great Mower

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just did the first cut of the season on my lawn and this mower was a beast! It didn't take long for the batteries to charge and I ended up only using the charge of 1 Battery to do my front and back yard. In spots that typically bogged down my old gas motor this one didn't even skip a beat. Quality seems good as well so I anticipate many more great lawn mows in the the future. Overall very impressed with my first electric piece of yard equipment.
