I am an active 89 year old senior and I needed a lawn mower for trimming my property. I could no longer use my gas mower because you cannot pace the machine. But its the GreenWorks Lawn Mower it is so easy with the controls to stop and go at your own pace. Thank You.

Great quiet mower for a standard sized yard

I am able to do my half acre yard on one 5.0 ah battery. It just makes it, but it makes it. It seems to be just as powerful as my old gas mower, at least it seems to cut the grass just as well, so it doesn't need more power. It is quiet and so much easier to deal with in general; no gas cans, no dirty oil residue so dirt does not stick to it, folds up so easy so it can be stored standing up taking up little space. This new (2020 I think) model has a double battery compartment where the mower can switch to the second battery when the first one runs out of power. The older models can store a second battery but you need to manually switch them when the first one runs out of power. This does not come with two batteries, but I bought a second 60v 6 ah battery (same price currently as the 5 ah battery).
Some small complaints. The self propel speed controller is very easy to move by accident while mowing. I like to keep it in the middle so I'm not running behind the mower. I'll accidentally bump it high speed a couple of times a mow. Not a big deal. The battery indicator seems to be a little off. It goes from full charge to one bar in about 15 minutes, but the will keep mowing for another 15 minutes. Also not a deal breaker, just know that first time you see it has one bar you probably have more power left than you think.
I'm very happy with this mower. It is a bit expensive, especially if you decide to get a second battery, but my overall rating is not taking cost into account. With no engine tune-ups needed it is worth it to me.

needed to get new mower, decided to go green. good decision so far; quiet, easy to push and self propel. little bit of learning curve , sensitive controls. deck height cheange a breeze. love being able to stand upright ,clean and store. Only drawback so far is length of battery time. If grass is high cant quite get through with single battery charge, may have to get additional battery to have two on board.

The battery that comes with the machine runs about 12 minutes. I bought another battery and it still runs less than 25 minutes.

Hello anonymous
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the runtime on this product. Please note that there are many factors that can affect the overall run time. The run-time of a battery would depend on the load acting on the unit while in use (speed, terrain, unit height, grass height, and density). Please be aware that the more power being used from the lawn mower (i.e. lawn mower speed, terrain, grass height, density, etc.), the faster the battery charge will drain. Here are a few other tips to help get the most out of the battery run time and achieve a cleaner cut: 1) Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 of the total length at a time. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass and ensure that grass is dry. 3) Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater. For best results keep the grass under 4" in length and walk at a slow but steady pace to allow the blades to cut efficiently. We hope these tips will help you with the issues you have encountered, however, if they do not please contact GreenWorks at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS) or by email on info@greenworkstools.com so that we can discuss these matters with you further.
