I have waited to post this review until I used the mower several times. I have now cut my lawn roughly 12 times, and I love this thing now as much as I did when I took it out of the box. I honestly cannot find a bad thing to say about it. My yard has a slight hill to it, and yes the self propelled version may have been nice, but this mower is so light and nimble it really doesn’t bother me th have to push it. I also love how quiet it is, I have actually had conversations with my wife and neighbors while mowing the lawn. And when I am done, it folds up and stows away nice and neat next to the garage wall. I would, and often do, recommend this mower to anyone in the market for a push mower. Great job GreenWorks.
This mower is absolutely fantastic. I was a little nervous thinking that it would be too heavy, but once it is on the ground it moves like butter. The adjustable speed is nice, and the handle height adjustment is outstanding. My kids can mow at a comfortable height, and then I can easily adjust it to my height to get the spots they missed. The vertical storage is great to keep the garage floor clear. While the specs say that it can run up to 30 minutes, I have used this time and time again to mow my 1/4 of an acre, plus the grass along my alley wall, and the battery still seems to have juice. Most battery mowers don't cut as low as this does, which makes this great for preparing to overseed. And on top of all of these wonderful features, it there is no gasoline or oil to worry about, and it is quiet. I can easily carry on a conversation while mowing. While the price tag may seem a little steep, considering that there is almost no maintenance and no fluids to purchase, this mower is easily cheaper than a gas powered mower. Plus it will probably last forever. My last Greenworks mower lasted for 4+ years and I never had to replace a battery or anything else on it. I only replaced it because I fell in love with this beast.
So I am a new homeowner and I have started buying some Greenworks tools. After seeing how well the 60v options work I decided to try the lawnmower. I am impressed. Has the same power as my gas mower. Much much less noise. The battery last for my whole lawn without a problem. The self-propulsion system works just as well as my gas mower. I plan on giving my gas mower to my father-in-law and switching over to all battery powered tools. Very happy with the Greenworks system and family.
I purchased this mower a weeks ago and have been pleasantly surprised by the quality of the product. the battery lasts plenty for the size of property that I have; 6,000 square feet. Haven't needed to do a second cut yet, but based upon the battery indicators, there is plenty to do the next cut as well as possibly another.
Pleasantly surprised – two words that capture our experience with this mower. From the user-friendly assembly, to the easy push-start, we were surprised a mower, powered by a battery, could cut our lawn so well! We decided to give this mower a try on a whim. It is lightweight, so those accustomed to self-propelled mowers should have no reservations about purchasing this one. When faced with thicker and wet grass, the torque automatically adjusts preserving battery life and ensuring the cut remains consistent. While we became comfortable with its quiet sound, we had to remind ourselves that it is capable of doing the work of a loud and bulky lawnmower with ease! Our neighbors became curious about this wonderful thing, and we loaned it out a few times; we successfully recruited a convert! Kudos to the company for this great product! (great for townhome back yards)
I bought this mower about 2 months. It's really lite and quiet. Batteries are great. My front yard is about 1900sqft, back yard is around 1500sqft and I usually have 2 green bars left. The only issue I've notice is the cut quality. I walk slow and there's always a good amount of uncut grass blades sticking up. So I have to make 2 passes to get a nice clean cut.
I hate to return it but it's taking me double the time to cut my lawn.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello There For Best Results users should: 1) Mow when the grass is dry. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on the newly cut grass. 3) Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater. 4) Consider mulching. In order to mulch, remove the bag and insert the mulch plug into the rear of the unit. This will leave the clippings on the lawn allowing the nutrients and nitrogen contained within them to return to the soil and allow the remaining grass to recycle them (always discharge the mulch towards a previously cut area to prevent your mower from bogging down). 5) Leave grass a little higher in shaded areas. This keeps them healthy in relatively nutrient poor conditions. 6) Always keep in mind what conditions your variety of grass prefers. If your grass prefers cooler climates, reduce the frequency with which you mow and increase the cutting height of your mower during hot seasons in order to compensate for the reduced growth rate these varieties may experience in this type of weather.
I've now completed my third use of this lawn mower and I can state that I'm fully satisfied with this product. My yard isn't very large, so this was the right sized lawnmower as I was replacing a 21-inch gas engine mower that was on its last legs. I had been keeping up with the maintenance, but it was just getting old (8 years) and had begun spewing a bit too much exhaust. Walking behind it was not fun, nor healthy. I was reluctant to consider buying another gas powered mower and decided to give Greenworks a shot after conducting some research on the advances battery powered mowers had made. Plus I wanted to do my part for the environment.
I was not disappointed. This mower has performed as advertised and has been a joy to use. The feel is exactly the same as any regular push lawn mower, but I'll admit that I had to mentally remind myself that it was capable of doing the job. I was afraid of being too rough with it since it is battery powered and I equated that with something more delicate. It's proven to be just as durable and I've gotten over that mental block and use it just like I have previous lawn mowers.
Here are a few features that I really like. The padded handlebar is something miniscule to some, but is a really nice touch and goes a long way. I'm not a professional landscaper or neighborhood lawn-of-the-month award winner, but I've pushed enough lawn mowers in my 38 years to notice that comfort isn't always taken into consideration for push lawn mowers. Given the fact that the only place you come into contact with the machine is the handle, the padding really helps. If you have to cut your yard for more than 30 minutes, you'll definitely appreciate it, too.
Another feature that I like is how the engine automatically revs higher when it encounters thicker or taller patches of grass and then throttles down afterwards. The normal setting is more than enough to handle my yard, but when I need it, I'm happy to know the mower has it.
Starting the mower is easy with just two steps. Push and hold button, pull ignition bar. Simple. It's quiet and I'm not stuck inhaling exhaust fumes. The vertical storage feature is nice and not something you'd do with a gas engine. It helps to save room in my shed. Especially now that I've replaced the older mower.
The battery life is sufficient and doesn't take long to charge. I like how the battery has an indicator built into it to show how much charge it has.
Overall, I can't say enough good things about this lawn mower. It works and will get the job done. Great job Greenworks.
