I just bought this model for the new home I just moved into. I let my lawn grow a little overgrown waiting for this mower to be delivered. But once it arrived, it powered through my lawn (1/3 acre) with no problems at all.
I like that has the widest cutting deck of any electric mower on the market (that I know of).
The two included batteries were both almost empty by the time I finished my lawn, so these batteries together are enough for about 1/3 of an acre, maybe a little bit more. Greenworks sells individual batteries in larger capacities, so you could get larger batteries if your lawn is larger.
Setup is easy. When you open the box, you just have to attach the two handles, screw one bolt into each handle, charge the batteries, then plug the batteries in. That's it. No other assembly required. At some point in the future, you presumably have to sharpen or replace the blades.
It's also easy to switch between the mulcher and the bag.
I cannot comment on the long-term durability, since I hadn't owned it long enough. But so far, it's been easy to use, quiet, convenient, and less messy than a gas mower.
Picked this up as I don't want to deal with gas anymore. I have a slight hill in my backyard and a decent hill in the front, but the property is under .3 acre with a decent sized house and/patio/3 car garage so not a lot of grass. I have to use 2 batteries to get though the cut as well as not using the self propel feature a lot of the time. Cutting/mulch is great, but I bought the self propel so I don't have to push, but if I use that I will drain the battery just cutting the back.
My neighbors are thrilled with the quiet operation and I like not wearing earplugs. My yard takes about 2 hours so I can get about half done on a charge of the 5 amp battery. Bought a 2 amp extra but leave it out of the second port so I can charge the other when it goes dead. The 2 amp is hardly worth buying but it was the only one available at the time. The cutting swath doesn't reach the tire path so you end up with about 18 inch swath. In hindsight I should have went with the 25". I love not pulling that darn cord and smelling gas. Highly recommend this all things considered.
Never have to change oil, fill with gas, or struggling with pulling a cord to start. These electric mowers are the present and future, and the purchase couldn't have happen any sooner! Exactly what I was looking for.
Mower does a poor job of mowing cleanly. It cannot lift leaves or bent over grass. I need to mow over an area twice for an even cut. Even then, leaves are left behind. It does not matter if mulching or bagging.
The battery life is excellent, much longer than I need. Usually half to three quarters of capacity remains upon completion of the task.
Mower is easy to operate.
Very little noise. It is a pleasure not needing earplugs when I mow.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hello Eleanor Rigby,
We appreciate your feedback on these matters and thank you for taking the time to leave this review. It is unfortunate to hear that the cut is less than satisfactory for you. Please try out the following suggestions to see if these help. 1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. 2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. 3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily. 4) Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater. For best results keep the grass under 4" in length and walk at a slow but steady pace to allow the blades to cut efficiently. A sharp blade will greatly enhance the performance of the mower, especially when cutting high grass. Be sure to check the blades and to sharpen them or replace them at least once per year.
