We downsized to a smaller house and a smaller yard. We donated all our gas powered lawn equipment when we moved, planning to use a lawn service going forward. After 6 months of settling in we decided to take over the lawn work, and not wanting to store gas in an attached garage, researched electric lawn equipment. The Greenworks mower has cut our small yard - ~.30 acre - several times, and it does a excellent job. It is much lighter than a gas powered mower, very quiet, easy to push if you don’t want to use the self propelled feature. There’s no pulling the starter rope stuff to deal with, no messy petroleum products to deal with, and it folds into a small storage foot print.

don't gamble on their battery

Just got this mower last night and right off the bat I charged the battery. The battery was bad, wouldn't take a charge at all. I had second thoughts before I ordered this mower based on previous reviews on the batteries. The 5.0 battery that comes with this unit is not available now and was offered (2) 2.5 batteries from customer service or return the whole mower. I am choosing to return the mower and will look elsewhere for a replacement. Very disappointing experience. Look over their return policy..They do not pay for return shipping.

I like the mower but.....

I've had my mower and been using it since late Feb. It's light, it's quiet and I do like using it. The problem is, it just doesn't cut very well. I have to go over a lot of spots again. Maybe it's because my last mower was a Honda with the 2 blade system and was a GREAT mower. I sharpened the blade, but that's a bit difficult because the cutting part of the blade is straight/flat. It has like a z formation which makes it hard to sharpen. I just ordered new sharpeners to go on my drill, so maybe that will help. I like everything about the mower except that it doesn't cut great. Unfortunately, that's what the mower is for.

Hello Nope123,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life! This unit is advertised as running up to 60 minutes of run-time* with fully charged 5.0 Ah battery, but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains. Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time. 1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. 2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. 3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily. 4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. We hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please submit an email using the customer contact page on our website or give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

I hate this freaking mower. Batteries last 20 minutes if lucky. It stalls every 10 feet. Takes me 3 batteries with a break to charge them to mow my lawn. And I don't have a big lawn

Hello Valued Greenworks Customer
We are sorry to hear of your experience when using the 60V lawn mower. This is certainly concerning, and we can sympathize with your frustration. The lawn mower has a built-in safety switch at the bottom of the handle. If the handle is not locked in place properly the mower will not start or stall out after a few seconds. Please unlock and fold down the handle and pull it back up until it clicks in properly. Hoping this will fix the issue but if it does not we urge you to contact by Chatbot on www.greenworkstools.com or by phone at Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. We would like the opportunity to speak with you to see if we can find a solution.

A Mower So Great I Did My Neighbor’s Lawn, Too!

I’ve been using the same lawnmower, an Italian machine called The Harry, for 25 years. The Harry is a beast. It weighs slightly less than an elephant. And for a quarter of a century it’s been a champ. But, like it or not, it was time for a change. My back just couldn’t take it anymore.
Enter the Greenworks 60v self-propelled mower. It’s racing-car sleek, with beautiful lines and gorgeous paint. Leaving the Beast for the Greenworks machine is a little like going from VCR tapes to blu-ray discs. The difference is that startling.
This Greenworks mower is a miracle. The lithium battery goes and goes, and gives this mower substantial power, with the result that my weekly lawn cutting is easier than it’s ever been. Because it’s self-propelled, the mower’s doing all the heavy work. I guide it with a light touch, fooling with the variable self-propelled speeds until I’m practically jogging behind it. It’s so much fun, the first time I used it I laughed out loud for the sheer pleasure of it. And then I cut my neighbor’s lawn. Because I didn’t want to stop.
Now, this honeymoon won’t last forever. I’m not doing my neighbor’s lawn every week. But I know this much: I’ve found my mower for the next 25 years.

Don't buy any products from these people! If anything goes wrong you can't get these people on the phone, tries for months, waited hour's on the phone and then gets cut off. I have a brand new mower with a piece of crap battery. I am thinking this is the problem. Really don't know for sure. Cranks for a minute and cut's off like no power.

Hello Caroline 70, Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you were not satisfied with this battery. Here are a few suggestions to check out. 1) Ensure that the charger is working. When the charger is plugged in you should see a solid red light on the left to indicate power. When the battery is inserted, the right light should also ignite solid red to indicate that it is charging. If this light on the right is not igniting or is flashing red, this may indicate an issue and we would be interested in hearing more about this. 2) Ensure that the battery has been fully inserted into the charger. Sometimes this requires a firm push into place to make sure that it has been properly seated. 3) Try resetting the charger. To do this, simply unplug it for approximately 10 minutes and then plug it back in and try reinserting the battery. If the charger has been plugged in for extended periods of time, this can sometimes cause the charger to malfunction. We hope these tips will help you. We do apologize for the delay in responding to your requests. We have recently encountered a very high volume of emails and phone calls. Our team has been working tirelessly to appropriately address each one. We do ask for your continued patience during this time. Please send a second request and ensure that your request has been submitted to info@greenworkstools.com and one of our team members will be in contact with you at the earliest opportunity to discuss this matter. Thank you for your understanding and patience

Purchased mower 9/28/2020, delivered on 10/3/2020. Battery is dead and not charging. I left the mower in the box in case it ends up going back. Are the batteries not tested on a charger before being shipped out?
