YES! For quite a few years I caved into hiring a lawn crew (I have about 1/4 acre). I was never happy with the inconsistency of their work. Now with my Greenworks mower, I look forward to getting "out there" to cut it! With the self propelled feature, it makes it even easier! Every feature on this mower has been done with thought. From the ease of on/off, or how easy it is to lower or raise the blades, to self propelled or manual, to bag on or off. I'm in my 60's. I have a heart condition. This mower is Fabulous!! AND because it's electric, I'm not waking behind a "fume maker" or thinking about high priced gas or checking oil! I Love This Mower!!
I've mowed for 3 weeks with this GW mower. I mow 2 lawns that total about 2.5 acres a week For the last 10 years I have been mowing with a large John Deere gasoline zero turn mower, so that's what my comparison will be with. The gas mower was(is) so loud that my hearing was damaged before I realized what was happening and started using sound-canceling ear coverings. So, the first pro: this mower is much quieter. With the blade on low speed (which I really can't use) there is practically no sound. The mower is a good bit louder with the blade on high speed, but still a lot quieter than the JD. I wear air pods under my noise cancelling ear muffs, and I don't have to turn up the volume to hear. Second pro: the batteries really do charge in 90 minutes. Third pro: I think the cut of the grass is more even, smoother looking, with the GW mower. Fourth pro: I'm not buying gasoline anymore. The specs on the mower say that run time is 1 hour. That's about right for me, maybe 1.5 hours if I run on low blade speed part of the time. Unfortunately, that's not long enough to finish either yard. The specs say you can mow up to 2 acres on a charge. No, you can't. I don't know how you could mow 2 acres in an hour either; maybe if you didn't have to mow around anything or ever turn. For most people this may not be an issue. We have the mower set up to mulch. That probably uses the batteries faster than side discharge. First con: the mower does not mulch as well as the JD even on high blade speed. I'm mowing bermuda that is not nearly as thick as I would like. There's not a lot to mulch, but I still have to double mow many areas. Mowing on low blade speed mulches even less well. Minor con: the control handles are not as smooth as the JD. The GW does not circle trees quite as easily. On low mower speed, the mower tends to be jerky, but I never mow on low mower speed. Second con: the batteries are quite heavy. I'm 5'3" and weigh 122 pounds. I have to carry the batteries 2 at a time. It would be nice to just plug in the mower, but that would take a dedicated outlet and I imagine a lot longer time. This is not really a con for me, but it might be for someone bigger than me. Even at my size, I wouldn't mind if the seat went back a little farther. I can see how it might be cramped for someone who is bigger. I understand making the mower smaller and lighter enables it to run longer. I vote for running longer. Because it is smaller and lighter than the JD, it does slip sometimes when turning on an incline. It's impossible to mow my yard without being on various inclines; none of them steep, but I have had to modify my direction of mowing. I am fortunate to be able to purchase 6 additional batteries, so I will have charged batteries ready to replace spent ones, and I can finish a yard without waiting for the batteries to recharge. I think going to electric mowers has to be done.
The grass was not unusually high, but it was wet. Went out after 0.1" of rain and mowed in mulch mode at full jack rabbit self-propelled speed. Got 25 minutes from one battery and 30 from the other. The first battery was fully recharged by the time the second ran out. (Needed another 15 minutes to finish.) The grass was level cut despite being wet and mulched. Beautiful!
I bought this mower after reading reviews and checking the other options on the market. I like the extra width that you get with 2 blades. Everyrhing out of the box was as it should be. Quick set up with just a couple bolts. I have .86 acre lot with lots of trees. I've cut the entire lawn twice. I took 1.5 batteries to finish. The switch over process between batteries was seamless and I kept on going. Handles the grass just fine and picked up some leaves as well. I used the blades that came with it. I haven't tried the high powered mulching blades yet. But the trimmings weren't noticeable. I have some decent terrain change from front to back yard, and the self propelled handled it just fine. This mower is quite a bit lighter than a conventional gas powered mower. it's easier to handle. You just have to wait a couple seconds after releasing the self propelled before you can pull it backwards. No big deal once you know. It's also so much quieter than a normal mower, too. No noise pollution. No gas fumes. Easy and compact to store in a smaller space with the folding handle. Looking forward to years of use.
Purchased about a month ago and have mowed the lawn approx 6 or 7 times mower works beyond my expectations. I made the mistake of purchasing 2 additional batteries that. I thought I would need to mow my entire lawn. Much to my surprise the mower only goes through only 1.5 battery usage.. time will tell longevity of unit. But for now it gets an a++++
Love this mower. Cuts great. My yard takes around 45 minutes to cut. When finished I've used one battery & just started on 2nd battery, so plenty of runtime.
