I bought this lawn mower for the self propelled feature. I already had a battery powered push mower and wanted an upgrade so my kids could mow. The first unit I received was defective so I contacted the company and they picked up the defective unit and shipped me a new one! 5 stars for customer service there. The 2nd unit I received seems to be working correctly, however there were what appear to be broken pieces of plastic falling out of one of the wheel wells, the unit still seems to work without issue so as of right now I'm not too worried. I mowed some of my front and back yard and then let my kids finish up. I managed to get through all of my front yard and about half of my backyard on a single charge, I have a little more than 1/3 acre and most of it is grass. I live in the PNW but mowed on a sunny day so the grass was pretty dry, it was however fairly thick since I hadn't mowed in a while. The description says runtime is 60 minutes, but I couldn't gauge that with my kids mowing they were constantly starting and stopping and my grass was thick. This mower picks up grass WAY better than my old Ryobi 40V mower. I'm hoping that with regular mowing I'll be able to get through both my front and backyards on a single charge. So far I'm extremely satisfied, only a little concerned about the broken plastic pieces. But if the unit doesn't have any issues in the coming weeks I'll update my review to 5 stars and won't worry about it. Highly recommend this product.

So far so good but a second battery is a must

Mower cuts well even with our thick St Augustine lawn but battery ran out about 2/3 through the job (we have less than 1/4 acre lot including the house). So a second battery is a must. Now I just have to find somewhere to buy one since Greenworks does not have them in stock. BTW Powerworks 60v 5.0 Ah battery does not fit. Since Greenworks makes Powerworks why can't you make one that fits both?

Hello JulieG,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the battery life. The run time of a lawnmower is dependent on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching etc - there are so many factors to consider. The run-time of a battery would depend on the load acting on the unit while in use (speed, terrain, unit height, grass height, and density). Please be aware that the more power being used from the lawn mower (i.e. lawn mower speed, terrain, grass height, density, etc.), the faster the battery charge will drain. Here are a few tips to help you extend the run time. 1) Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 of the total length at a time. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass and ensure that grass is dry. 3) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. We hope these tips will help you with the issue you have encountered. Please note, Greenworks 60V battery can be purchased on our website here https://www.greenworkstools.com/shop-by-tool/battery-chargers. Please note, some battery are currently out of stock, please refer to FAQ question section for availability. Should you have any questions or require technical assistance please do not hesitate to contact us at info@greenworkstools.com or contact us at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS).

I had a defective battery and contacted Giulio with this issue. He was most helpful in explaining what was required of me. Long story short, I was sent a replacement battery. Happy with the quick response by Greenworks.

Great cut. I can mow my 1/3 acre with the supplied battery and one extra that came with my leaf blower. The batteries do take some time (1 or 2 cuts) to break in and reach full capacity.

got this a few months ago its ruined gas mowers for me. Great build quality, plenty of battery my 1/4 acre lot doesn't even put a dent in the charge, this unit is super quiet, I love that it folds up for storage and I never have to worry about spark plugs, oil or gas. Only minor complaint is that there seems to be a small ramp up when you engage the self propel mode, but I've gotten use to it.
Love this mower!

I've had a few lawn movers in my time, but this is by far the best. It's well-built, has great features, and does a fabulous job of mowing. I especially like the ability to control the self propelling feature. This cuts my mowing time in half!

Lawnmower not made for thick grass!

This lawnmower isn't made for cutting thick grass. I have two batteries, and they both went dead on me trying to cut the back yard. Very disappointed and now I have an incomplete yard.
