I purchased this mower midway through the last mowing season after doing a lot of research on the competition. I am very happy with the decision I made. Some of the features that prompted me to choose this mower were: turbo button, steel deck, ball bearing wheels and comes with 2 batteries. Some competitors have a single larger battery but 2 batteries are better since with the rapid charger you can mow perpetually. I was coming from a gas H*nda and was concerned that the Greenworks wouldn’t have the bagging performance of my gas mower. With the high lift blade it does quite well. I am not disappointed. It lacks the suction to vacuum the mulch from flower beds into by bag which is a good thing. Also, the bag is the right width for the standard lawn bags. On my prior mower the lawnmower bag was too wide for standard lawn bags making it difficult to unload efficiently. I really like how it folds up to not take up a lot of space. It is also nice not having to change oil, air filter or worry about the gas going bad. I would highly recommend this mower. My only complaint is the pinch point created if you have 1 hand on the grip when you squeeze the green lever with the other hand.
I would recommend this to a friend!

don't gamble on their battery

Just got this mower last night and right off the bat I charged the battery. The battery was bad, wouldn't take a charge at all. I had second thoughts before I ordered this mower based on previous reviews on the batteries. The 5.0 battery that comes with this unit is not available now and was offered (2) 2.5 batteries from customer service or return the whole mower. I am choosing to return the mower and will look elsewhere for a replacement. Very disappointing experience. Look over their return policy..They do not pay for return shipping.

Bought this Walk behind lawn mower. Tried 4 times. My Lawn is less than 5000 sqft. I had to charge batteries 3 times to cur under 5000sqft lawn. everytime I sed one of the batteries turned blinking of out of battery and lawn mower stopped.
Today in the 2nd time tried to use on 5/15/2022 after charging batteries for over a week. and Lawn Mower same battery stopped under 10 mins. even my front years less than 1000sqft couldnt complete.
Please do not buy this, you will be left not even half lawn cut and your daily weekend schedule will be ruined.

Hello SMMA,
Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that you are not completely satisfied with the run time that you are receiving. Please know that there are many factors that can affect the run time. The run time of a lawnmower is dependent on the load acting against the unit and fluctuates depending on the height setting, the terrain, grass height, type of grass, whether you are mulching, etc - there are so many factors to consider. The run-time of a battery would depend on the load acting on the unit while in use (speed, terrain, unit height, grass height, and density). Please be aware that the more power being used from the lawnmower (i.e. lawnmower speed, terrain, grass height, density, etc.), the faster the battery charge will drain. Here are a few tips to help you extend the run time! 1) Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 of the total length at a time. 2) Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass and ensure that grass is dry. 3) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. We hope these tips will help you with the issue you have encountered, however, if they do not please kindly give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS).

I like the mower but.....

I've had my mower and been using it since late Feb. It's light, it's quiet and I do like using it. The problem is, it just doesn't cut very well. I have to go over a lot of spots again. Maybe it's because my last mower was a Honda with the 2 blade system and was a GREAT mower. I sharpened the blade, but that's a bit difficult because the cutting part of the blade is straight/flat. It has like a z formation which makes it hard to sharpen. I just ordered new sharpeners to go on my drill, so maybe that will help. I like everything about the mower except that it doesn't cut great. Unfortunately, that's what the mower is for.

Mower was easy to assemble. User documentation was good. I have been using this new mower for two weeks. I am mowing every three days. I live the self propelled capability. It takes me a little over one hour to mow my lawn. Never had a battery failure.

It takes 3 swipes to get the grass totally cut. The battery cost is like buying a new lawnmower and it take 5 or 5 charges to cut 1/4 acre. You have to walk really slow behind it to make sure most of the grass gets cut

Hello Very Unhappy,
We are sorry to hear that you were not completely satisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life, here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time. 1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings. 2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months. 3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily. 4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging. 5) Only use the self-propelled feature when needed. We hope these tips will help. We would be happy to carry on this conversation to offer some additional suggestions or to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average, if you are willing, contact Greenworks Pro toll-free helpline at 1-855-345-3934. All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

Never finished

Bought this at the end of last summer. It has never finished my .15 of an acre, even with 2 batteries. Normal sod lawn. Always mow dry towards end of day. Even on a day like today, 70 degrees and dry, both batteries have died and I’m not even 1/5 done. Batteries are both fully charged and one is 2.0 and the other is 5.0. Can’t ever mow and trim and blow off my yard in 1 day. I have had a horrible experience and will never buy or trust battery power again. I used to love mowing my lawn but now it’s always aggravating. Buy a gas mower or buy lots of batteries.

Hello Cash,
Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry to hear that you are dissatisfied with the run time of this battery when used in this lawn mower. It is important to adjust your mowing techniques to make the most out of the battery life! This unit is advertised as running up to 60 minutes, but it goes without saying that that the harder the unit works, the quicker the battery drains.
Here are a few mowing tips to help achieve the optimal run time.
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.
Hope these tips will help! If not, we would be happy to investigate to see whether your run time would be considered average; please submit an email using the customer contact page on our website or give us a call at 1-888-909-6757 (1-888-90WORKS). All we ask that you have access to the unit so that we can complete troubleshooting with you and gather necessary unit information.

It didn’t work properly from the moment it arrived. The rear wheel only rotated one turn in either direction and the self propelled feature only works 50% of the time. It drains both batteries very quickly. It only cuts half the size lawn that my other (single battery) lawnmower could do before both batteries are dead.
