Very impressed with the smooth operation! My wife has claimed it as hers after the first mow! Battery life is very impressive and I went and purchased the 60 volt string trimmer because we are so happy! Next up the 42 inch ZTR!
Impressive mower. Easy to load/remove batteries, dual 60V 4amp batteries for larger lawns (mine just needs less than one for a third of an acre...), personal pace from slow to fast, great mulch using power boost, single lever to adjust cutting height on all four wheel, folds to store on a small foot print when not in use during winter.
I'll start off by stating I bought the 80v self propel model last Black Friday (2021) & I love it. This Spring I decided to get the 60v 21" (while on sale) for my dad's house. While the mower cuts the grass just fine there was an issue with the self propel drive system. I found the self propel drive motor clutch would not disengage 99% of the time. I found the clutch assembly was not assembled correctly at the factory. After assembling the clutch correctly, the self propel system works correctly. I then reached out to a friend of mine who was experiencing the same issue with one of his 60v self propelled mowers. He bought one last fall to use & another this spring because his wife wanted to help cut their large property. I found the one mower to have the same issue with the clutch where it was not assembled correctly from the factory. I repaired the mower, I then checked his second mower & found it to be correctly assembled & no repair needed. That's a 66.6% failure rate for this model mower. See the attached pictures.
You'll notice in the pictures that the one centrifugal weight is not properly installed. The weight should be slid over both pins.
If you read through the reviews there are plenty of complaints about the self propel drive system not disengaging. While I have recommended this model & the 80v model to friends (who have purchased a GreenWorks mower) I have them bring it to me to check the clutch first.
I gave the "Quality" portion of this review a "Poor" rating due to the clutch problem.
Love this mower, the only complaint is that it tends to bog down in heavy and/or damp grass. If you live in Florida, you might wait 3 - 4 months to have dry grass to cut. When it stops you need to raise the height adjustment and start again, it will clear out and you can lower it and go again.
I love it, I love it! I don't even think of mowing as a chore anymore. So easy to start. So easy to maneuver. I bought the self-propelled feature, but I don't even use it. Cuts just as sharp and clean as my old gas mower. Don't know why I waited to make the switch.
Lots of nice features, only complaint is very poor quality mulching compared to my former gas mower! Also seems flimsy after a steel deck mower! Would trade even up for good used gas mulcher like my former Honda!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
