Can't be happier!

I just got this machine today, got it tested and can't be happier! Now, I'm a 110 pound woman with not much muscle power. This mower is easy to handle, its battery lasted much longer than I expected, easy to assemble and cuts really well. I've had a tough time getting a new mower this year, tried three times ordering from different platforms, all I got were either defect, machine with no batteries, or wrong item. I was almost giving up mowing my own lawn if this order fails, but this time it is a success. Well made machine, thanks!

I recently purchased the 60 volt lawnmower. It is my first electronic lawnmower. I was very happy with the performance and power that it has. I normally don't post reviews but I had to on this as it is well above my expectations. Great mower.

Great tools - bad battery life

I purchased the 60V 5.0Ah 21" deck lawn mower less than a year ago. I also have the 60V 4.0Ah trimmer/blower combo and the 16" 60V 2.5Ah chainsaw. All in all I'm very happy with all of the Greenworks products. My biggest issue is the battery life. I have about a 1/3 acre yard and a fully charged 5.0Ah and 4.0Ah battery only lasted about 45 minutes combined when mowing. 2 Fully Charged batteries!!! That's super frustrating when I can't get my lawn cut in one attempt.
Pros: Cost-Saver, Easy to Use, Quiet, Durable, Environmentally Safe, Effective

Worked great for 2 mos. Then the self-propel feature worked less and less until it became useless. I jumped through every hoop, but never was able to hear back from anyone.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My yard eats mowers; how is this still running?

I bought the 21-inch Gen 2 self-propelled mower as a bare tool (no longer offered) so I could use it with the more robust X-Range (Bluetooth) batteries. I use my mower to mow my 3/4 acre lawn. Since I own four 5AH batteries and four 2.5AHs, I treat myself to full-time Turbo mode and full-time self-propelled wheels. I also forgo the "economy blade" that came attached, preferring the other blade--the power-hungry mulching blade--exclusively, because it provides a cleaner result and I have battery capacity to spare.
Rather than repeat what others have written, I'll share some less commonly voiced thoughts:
- The mulching blade lasts a long time before it needs sharpening. I bought three spares but I need only three in the course of a year: two in spring, summer, and early fall, and the third in late fall, when the leaves take over.
- With a mulching blade and Turbo mode, my lawn looks delightfully even. I don't leave clippings unless I get lazy and cut off more than two-thirds of the grass height.
- On the thickest grass, I must slow down or the 1500W motor might stall. 1800W would be welcome, but that would be more appropriate for the company's 80V mower. (The 82V commercial 21 is rated at 2000W for the blade motor plus the motor that powers the wheels.)
- I can't tell which makes the biggest difference to the quality of cut: Turbo mode or the mulching blade. Neither does a perfect job obliterating leaves but then neither did my Snapper 4-cycle mower with a Ninja blade. I'd rate the result with leaves B+.
- When I use the mulching blade, a 5AH battery lasts about 20 percent shorter.
- With Turbo mode engaged, a 5AH battery lasts about 25 percent shorter.
- With mulching blade AND Turbo mode, a 5AH battery lasts about 30 to 35 percent shorter.
- My number one suggestion for Greenworks: Redesign the battery lid to close all the way when we use 8AH batteries. Oh, and sell the new lid as a retrofit.
- My number one suggestion for owners: Use Turbo more often than not. Invest in more battery capacity if you must.
- With a 2.5AH X-Range (Bluetooth) battery, you can run the mulching blade in Turbo mode or with self-propelled engaged; probably not both Turbo and self-propelled. Don't try Turbo mode with a standard 2.5AH battery unless you're using the thinner, economy blade.
- The wheels have held up, even though my yard is full of gopher holes and surfaced roots that eat lesser wheels. I'm guessing the hubs use steel bearings, not bushings.
- The single-level height adjuster is a welcome feature. If I'm feeling limber, I can change the height without letting go of the throttle.
- When you're using self-propelled mode, you can tell when the first battery has died and the second battery has kicked in: You're suddenly forced to walk faster.
- If you listen to when your second battery is about to deplete, you can shut off the blade and use the (300W?) transmission motor to self-propel back to your garage.
- I keep a soft "wheelchair" caddy attached to my handle to hold a sport drink and a 14-inch Cal-Hawk lopper. I stop the mower and use the lopper to trim branches that would otherwise brush my face.
- Using steel ties, I've lashed an 18V 7-inch "red" worksite fan (450 CFM) to the mower's body. Set to "High," the fan keeps my neck and face cool on hot, humid days.
- The headlights are fun but they're not quite bright enough to rely on when cutting after dark. I supplement them with a 600W headlamp.
- Any mower will cut better when the grass is dry. If you don't "have" to mow when the grass is still wet with dew, do yourself and your grass a favor and wait until later afternoon or evening.

Cheap handle controls

Bought this mower for my son. After setting it up notice the cheap plastic handle controls. If you accidently happen to hit those plastic controls they will snap off.
Happened to get a look at Makita's battery mower, solid metal handle controls. But, then again the Makita mower is twice the cost. Will see how long they will stand up.

Worst lawn mower I ever had

Battery take too long to charge; takes me 3 days to cut my small yard; have to cut the front one day the next day half of backyard and the third day finally finish. This is with an extra battery I bought separately!!!! This lawn mower is very frustrating in the fact that you are not able to mow your yard in one day!!!!

The harder the unit must work, the quicker the battery charge will drain. Here are a few tips to extend your run time!
1) When cutting thick grass, reduce walking speed in order to allow for a more effective cut and a proper discharge of the clippings.
2) Only mow 1/3 of the total grass length at a time - no more. For a healthy lawn, always cut off one-third or less of the total length of the grass. The average lawn should be approximately 1 1/2 to 2” (3.8 to 5 cm) long during cool months, and between 2" to 3 1/4" (5 cm to 8.3 cm) long during hot months.
3) Mow when the grass is dry. As this is an electric unit, mowing wet/damp grass is a safety issue. However, ensuring the grass is dry will also help the grass cut cleanly and discharge appropriately. Wet/damp grass carries more weight and will mostly stick to the blade/motor shaft and will not appropriately discharge or cut easily.
4) Make sure the battery is cool before use. When the battery will not be in use, we suggest storing it indoors, in a cool dry area - away from direct sunlight. Leave the charger unplugged and the battery disconnected from the charger unless it needs charging.

Over promised, under delivering

The mower works fine. However, the batteries only last 20 minute approximately each. I have two batteries and both can’t mow a lawn pass ‘minute. A great reminder for me not to buy anything else electric or lithium powered.
