Great mower, not great battery

My yard is a .34 acre lot. I mow my lawn every weekend so the grass never gets too high. Despite this, I can NEVER mow my lawn on one battery charge. It was my understanding that this mower/battery was designed for yards up to .5 acres. That is definitely not the case.

Hello Dan422
We are sorry to hear that you're not completely satisfied with the run time of your 60V 21-Inch Self Propelled Brushless Lawn Mower, (MO60L510). The run time for this lawn mower with a 5Ah battery is up to 60 minutes. The run time may vary slightly depending on cutting technique and the condition of your lawn. We based the run time off optimal conditions-load. Here are some tips that will help to achieve better run time: 1. Set the mower to the highest cutting height (or 1/3 of the length of grass), mow no more than 1/3 at a time. 2. Mow when grass is dry. 3. Mow in the morning or late afternoon to reduce the heat stress on newly cut grass. 4. Alternate mowing patterns each time you mow. As grass develops a grain based on your cutting direction it will lean towards the direction of your mowing path. Changing the pattern allows better vertical growth and helps to keep the cut neater. 5. New or thick grass may require a narrow cutting path. 6. For the best results keep the lawn under 4" in length and walk at a steady pace to allow the blades to cut efficiently If you would like to contact us, we would be happy to speak with you about the tool and sort out any issues you've been having we can be reached by email on info@greenworkstools.com or directly at 1-855-345-3934.
I've only used mine only four times now so I can't talk about long-term durability. BUT--this mower is well-built, strong and quiet. It's nowhere near silent but it is much quieter than gas movers, much quieter than a passing motorcycle. The self-propelled control lets you set it for your own walking pace. All of the accessories fit well and seem well-made. Overall, it's very easy to use.
CONS:
The drive takes 2-3 seconds to slack off pushing once you release the control bar. Be aware of that and cut the drive before you try to make a U-turn. My battery endurance is in the 30-40 minutes range, not 60 minutes. I use the drive on my sloping yard going uphill, and coast downhill to save battery. My mowable grass yard covers about 0.35 acre and I'm buying a second battery so I can finish in one pass. Finally, it would really be handy if it had a reverse capability. I can see there might be safety concerns but it would sure come in handy.

Hello Lectroid Thank you for your detailed response. The run time will vary depending on the amp hour (Ah) of the battery being used and the condition of your lawn. A 2.0Ah battery will provide the least amount of run time at approximately 20 minutes and the 5.0Ah will provide up to 60 minutes of run time. We would be happy to discuss the runtimes with you and offer some troubleshooting tips you may find helpful. We have a very dedicated customer support team here to help you in any way we can. i just bought this lawn mower and found it to be the best investment i could ever make. I've mowed a great deal of lawn with many other kinds of lawn mowersand in my seventy years believe me this does the job. I have St. Augustine grass and it is really and unbelieveablly thick 4" grass and hard to move with a regular standard lawn mower. But this lawn mower and it being self-propelled is great not one problem or hitche. I also bought the Greenwork battery operated blower and trimmer as well. these three items have made my mowing the front and back yard a whole lot easier and more comfortable. believe me you can't go wrong with this lawn mower,
I purchased this about a month ago, and has already paid for it self. I was paying for someone to mow my lawn. I am an older female, and had a hard time starting a gas powered mower, pushing it, plus putting in gas, oil etc. It easily folds up and stores it in my garage. Having the throttle control and rear wheel drive make's it a joy to mow. Best purchase I have ever made!! Now just need some nicer grass.
I have an average size city lot. I was a little hesitant from reading reviews, here and elsewhere, suggesting that the battery life was disappointed, but I am not disappointed. Last week, it did my lawn great. I forgot to charge when done. This week, it did about 80% of my lawn with the still uncharged battery. I have the 60v 5A battery that came with my self-propelled mower. I'm happy. I really can't think of anything I'd change about this mower.
Just did my first mow today and super happy with the results. A) It's suprisingly quiet and B) it's so easy to start and use. I'll never go back to a gas mower.
After reading many great reviews I decided to buy this mower. I'm guessing the people who gave those great reviews never owned other mowers previously. I own .25 acres with a large house in the middle of it. My yard is small. The battery only lasts for 30 to 45 minutes which doesn't always allow me to mow my entire yard before the mower dies. In the spring we had some rain so I had to mow twice a week to keep the grass as short as possible because of the short battery span and the battery would still die before getting my yard completely mowed. The mower only has a single blade instead of a double blade, which doesn't cut the best. It allows grass that is laying over to stay laying over and leaves skippers. Also it doesn't pick up leaves when driving over them. Previously I owned a double blade gas mower that would spin fast and suck the grass upright and cut it off very nicely, but not this mower! It looks great and is lightweight but that's now a reason to buy a mower. It does not do the job! Buy a gas powered mower instead!!!
