So far, it's a great printer. Im loving it. I have some files that need the huge build volume, and this one does it perfectly.

Printer Noob. First off the firmware needs updating. Chinese menus come up in some parts of the UI. Limited to only Creality Print. No enclosure. Past those issues a really solid printer. Printed a bunch of test parts with standard configuration and all come out well. Made some parts that I designed in Fusion those came ot well too. Changed the Nozzle for a MK8 1.0mm nozzle and printed PLA-LW in vase mode and that part came out well. In all a pretty good printer for my first printer.

The large printer I've been waiting for!
on April 16, 2025

I have absolutely no affiliation with Creality and I bought the printer with my own money. Since unboxing and assembly (more involved than most but very simple and the instructions are clear and all parts are separated and labeled extremely well), I've had nothing but flawless prints on this machine. And it's FAST. I've needed a large format printer for my business for a while but there was never an option that provided size, speed, high quality prints, and consistency without a huge price tag. The 5 Max finally checked all the boxes at an affordable price.
My only gripe is it doesn't offer the ability for remote access (ssh) and doesn't run the fluidd interface. Hopefully this becomes an option later like it was with the K1 series.
In conclusion,
After buying a K1 Max a couple years ago (2nd iteration) and needing to iron out some issues to get it working perfectly, and briefly owning an Ender 5 Plus (terrible printer without upgrades and way too slow for my needs), I've been skeptical of buying a newly released creality machine. But the Ender 5 Max seemed to have everything I wanted so I had to give it a shot. I'm truly glad I did! My experience has been perfect. I use orca slicer and the stock profiles are pretty close. There is some ghosting with silk filament that can be fixed with PA tuning. And the first layer line width (for 0.2mm later height profile) is set to 0.55mm which causes away too much squish on the first layer. Changing it to 0.5mm makes perfect first layers every time. If you are debating on getting this printer, get it!

Good value for some applications
on April 17, 2025

This would be a good production printer for multiple small parts or large toys like dragons. It went together easily and is very sturdy. Print quality is good.

Unfortunately the large amount of bed warp makes it unsuitable for larger prints that require a flat bottom. It is impossible to get a good 1st layer on the entire plate because the system cannot compensate sufficiently for the large amount of warp.
The printer seems to be marketed at commercial print farm use, but insufficient spare parts are available for use in that application.

Awesome but!

This printer is awesome! Only downside is no replacement parts for a printer that supposed to be print farm oriented replacement parts are essential. That’s why I’m only giving it 4 stars this by far is the most solid printer from Creality to date. I recommend this printer. I need hotends not nozzles and extruders.

Great for pla, not petg

So far I have had success with pla and been happy with the large print volume. Unfortunately most of my needs are petg and I can't get it to print anything successfully in that material.

A lot of potential
on April 25, 2025

This printer has the potential to be great. It's performance is very solid with PLA and does a great first layer with the bed at 45C. My big problem with it is that the software mandates the bed leveling to be at 45C, and the mesh taken at that temperature no longer represents the shape of the bed when printing at a higher temp like 70C. This issue is giving me very bad first layers with PETG HF, scraping the bed in the center and barely adhering at the edges. The scraping has also caused a plastic leak out the top of the hot end. It's also frustrating how little control Creality gives you over the printer, it feels like I'm locked out of most of the important stuff. If you're printing in PLA, this printer's great! Hopefully they remedy the leveling temp issue, and it would be nice to have more access to the printer's code.

More failed prints than good
on June 6, 2025

I have failed prints for no reason other than seems. I have even tried glue on the print bed but it seems to keep having issues. I have 8 other machines and am not new to 3d printing so it’s not user error. I should have just stuck with sovol…. And to think sovol just came out with a new bigger sv08 that is 100mm bigger in all ways
