Software was more frustrating this year than in prior years. Been a customer for 15 years at least. Navigating the HSA portion was horrible. Couldn’t answer the questions in a way that made sense, calculated a penalty. W2s imported wouldn’t work correctly and would overwrite each other.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've used this for several years and it works great. However, this year, for some reason, when I create my forms in a PDF, they won't print. They only print blank pages. I have to somehow create in a different format to get them to print.

The complexity of the tax code has made it an easy trade off of time and the cost. NJ E-file is still too expensive. The ability to rollover the descriptions of each of the W-2, 1099 and charitable forms saves a LOT of time. This year I had to submit 1040X and NJ1040X for 2022, 2023, 2024. Would not have done it if it wasn't electronic. For 1040X I had previously declared dividends on a 401K that were actually non-taxable. For my NJ1040s I had the same benefit AND I realized that I had not Itemized medical deductions on Federal that would flow into the NJ forms that had a much lower threshold for deductibility.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Nice and easy to follow, no problem with entering data, the only niggle was when trying to enter information about my SSA lump sum payment due to WEP/GPO elimination. The program couldn't help, I had to do figure the correct amounts manually and enter. This took some time, which i feel the program should have been able to do.
