The program was simple to follow, but we did not like the fact that after preparing our taxes and attempting to file electronically, there was an additional charge for filing our state taxes. You charge for purchasing the deluxe federal and state tax program and then charge almost as much for filing. We will not use HR Block in the future if this is how you manipulate obtaining more money from your customers.
I've used H&R Block software for a very long time. This year has been frustrating. The update they have gets stuck and won't update. I thought it had at one point and went on to do my taxes. Everything was complete and then filed. Low and behold when I come in to finish up after IRS acceptance I have to do an update again only ITS THE UPDATE I THOUGHT HAD INSTALLED. So the question now is... Is my tax return properly completed? UGGGGG
HRB misidentified a problem. It told me I was missing a state ID code for a 1099-INT when it turned out the IRS said I had the wrong EIN. Block could at least check that the same bank should have the same EIN. As a result of resubmitting both fed and state returns I was concerned that it was taking unusually long to update the state from pending to accepted. This could have been avoided had Block let filers know that MD non-business returns would only be processed starting with 1/29/18.
The worst 'feature' is it doesn't bring the user to the return interface but instead to the worksheet at the bottom of the page. I will try another brand next year knowing Tax Cut won't be any better.
