I started using this software in 2009, possibly earlier, and the interface hasn't changed in all that time. This year, they started mucking with updates in February and March which changed and broke existing returns. I needed my MAGI to calculate a return of excess contributions before the 4/15 deadline, and because their software wasn't calculating QBI deduction correctly until days before the deadline, I wasn't able to calculate and process the excess returns in time. For the first time in my life, and I'm in my 50's, I had to file for an extension and deal with fines and penalties. This software cost me a lot of money and anxiety. 16 years using this software and now I will move on. I will not use this software in the future.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

i bought in January 2026, the area to claim exemptions is not straightforward for defined plans under excluded income, does not allow Social Security tax withheld or medicare Tax to be included when itemmizing , some forms have to be searched whne not commonly used.
Pros: Maximizes refund

I discovered many defects. HRB couldn't download data properly, couldn't print properly, couldn't handle a 1099-NEC, and messed up a form so that the IRS rejected my return. I'll be switching back to TaxCut.

I've been using this software for years, for simple Fed + single state returns. It's worked fine and the cost is tolerable considering the extra bit of confidence that's built in. This year I had to deal with an expensive mistake and I am not happy at all with how H&R Block Deluxe 2025 Software ripped me off for a second state. Paid for it, installed it, started using it - then found out this Software couldn't process a partial-year return for that state. I hoped that at least I could use the data entry screens to get that state's forms, schedules and worksheets sorted out. Hoped they might help me put my return together on paper. The results were a mess and wasted hours of my time trying to make sense of them. CONFIRM BEFORE YOU PURCHASE MORE THAN ONE STATE.
