I have used H&R Block for many years and it has not failed me. Take you step by step with each section. Have detail explanation if you get stuck.

Best Way to Do your Own Taxes!

I have been using the H&R Block Deluxe program for the past several years to prepare my taxes along with the taxes of my 4 children ages 18-26. Awesome program allows me to file all 5 federal returns for Free! Also imports information from previous year i.e. personal info, W2 provider info and state income tax refund info. saving me data entry time.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

Great, except for Survey Monkey

I have been using this program for many years and I am very pleased with it. I did not like the Survey Monkey stuff coming up after I loaded the program, which is why I could not give 5 stars.

The HR Block software version compared to the Online version is simply hands-down a winner. I am not as concerned being logged into a web portal entering my personal financial information. The download and ease of use was wonderfully understandable. I had to pay in so that is my only reason for not clicking the maximize my return. <3
