I have used TaxCut for 15+ years. this year the program seemed to fight me when I tried to move around and find things. It took a very long time getting through loops in the program to get to error they found but did not direct me to.
I purchase mine in November last year (2017) and just waited until all the paper work came in the mail. I think, if my memory is correct!, this was my 10 year as a Happy Customer.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import
I have used H&R Block software since 2009 - actually since 2001 when it had an earlier name. I have found it to be current, accurate, and intuitive to use. I have been very pleased with the ease of use, the consistency, and the fact that the IRS seems very happy with the results. Quick refunds and no audits for 17 years - what's not to love! This year I thought I might have an issue which would be outside the normal software (QCD of part of RMD from 401K) but the H&R Block software is ahead of the IRS forms and the IRS instructions. I am impressed. I am already prepared to declare myself a happy 2018 program customer!
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
Perfect...almost! Perfect is how easy and fluid the software operates...all questions have clear explanations; help is literally just a click away.
Almost is a small thing, really. Considering H&R's client load, I can excuse never getting through to chat online with a representative. (The 2 choices given to chat with an online Rep seemed merely perfunctory. My Q' was eventually resolved using common sense.
I have a recommendation: Being able to choose between a Rep and a well programed robotic answering sequence might really help as well.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
Have used H&R Block for many years now and this year has me confused a lot. I basically was out of work all but 5 weeks of 2017 which I work as a contractor (1099 misc) wages. Now I have to pay small business tax? Hope program works.
