I have been using H&R Block tax software for a long time... well before TaxCut changed its name to H&R Block. With only a few exceptions, I have been confident that the product has produced a tax return that is accurate and fair.The interview process allows me to prepare my return in only a few hours (even less, since it has been best for me to take the standard deduction.
The only annoyance has been when I loaded my 1099s from my brokerage account. Each transaction is reported, even though I have the option to group transactions into long- and short-term. Then, when the review happens, the program flags each of the uploaded transactions as needing review., and there is no way to delete a block of transactions
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

Used for several years with no issue. This year there was an error in the programming related to W2's and 1099-R forms. If more than one was entered, the second or third would replace the first value in the first form entered resulting in a calculation error in the tax. The prevent the error, the forms had to be entered in reverse order; third, second, first to prevent overwriting of the first form. This should have been fixed in an early update but apparently was not. Occurred after all updates were applied.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

I fought this thing for hours, ran out of downloads, had to buy a second copy, all because you didn't clearly include the fact that I had to turn off my threat protection for it to load. How you could not have that key fact clearly included is gross negligent. Have used you people for years for multiple annual filings, but will be real iffy next year.
Really disapointed such a key step not made very clear.

I was not able to e-file the California return because your program lacks the ability to generate the 593 state real estate withholding form, even though I was asked in the "interview" if I had withholding reported on that form. Could not import financial documents from Wells Fargo because it was not on the list. So, not super impressed. Not clear if the premier/professional version of the program includes it.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The H&R Block Deluxe 2025 software was easy to install and easy to navigate. If there was a mistake, the program directed me to it so it could be fixed. Also like the option of e-filing. Price for the package was reasonable as well. I will be purchasing next year and beyond.
