I was very pleased how the software guides the tax pre-parer through the process. The software is easy to use and the filing occurred quickly without any glitches. Great product!
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Easy to import, Fast
Generally pretty easy to follow. I am left with a high level of confidence that my taxes are correct. One issue is the updates. When I ran them there was nothing to indicate that they had finished downloading. I waited what seemed like a long time and finally just his cancel. Only then did I see that the download was complete.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
I have used H&R Block for a couple of years now. It's reasonably easy to use although it could be simpler. This year's program imported data from last year's return incorrectly.
I have used for several years, satisfactorily, but this year state would not download--just said software management error. I will have to get state forms, elsewhere, even though I paid for it along with federal. Disappointing.
Will received 5 stars when State is also e-filed free and not such a HIGH FEE is charged. Until then, I will continue to mail my State forms. This does NOT make a happy customer!
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
So glad I switched over years ago. I love how the software is fast - not bloated and full of nagging to upgrade like some others. The Deluxe has the main schedules I need, and for a great price. I've dropped a star since sometimes the interview wording is vague, and the context-sensitive help is weak. But overall I love this and have no plans to change going forward.

This is the third year I’ve used this software. It crashed often. I was almost ready to use another vendor’s product before I finished the tax return.
It based it’s auditing of my charitable contribution % on my adjusted income instead of my gross income. I had to manually eliminate deductions to reduce my contributions enough to stay out of the red on the audit. This adjustment reduced my refund.
I have a side self-employment job and it handled the schedule C okay with two wrong assumptions. I receive 1099s from the companies I do work for. It assumed I was a material owner in those businesses. It was not intuitively obvious how to change the box for material owner to no.
Second, it warned that I would not have enough taxes to cover my estimated 2018 self-employment income (which it never asked me). It used my net 2017 tax liability amount as my 2018 taxes, which is $1,500 less than the actual taxes. I was not asked if I will have enough taxes taken out from my other income to cover any 2018 self-employment income taxes.
I HAVE BEEN USING THE H&R BLOCK TAX SOFTWARE FOR YEARS. I WOULD SAY I WILL NEVER CHANGE. IT ALWAYS GIVES ME WHAT I NEED. THANKS GUYS KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
