The only thing that concerned me was that I got a warning that boxes 1,2,3 normally are not the same if there were entries in box 12. I think mine were the same due to 401K contributions being "roth" but I could not find any additional info on this?
First time doing taxes, was very helpful, but upset that I had to pay to file my taxes after buying the program. I didn’t want to pay a representative, and even though it was way cheaper, it still bothered me.
I have used Taxcut for the past 15+ years. The program makes my tax filing process easy with greatly reduced stress knowing that I'll get a completed return with the best outcome possible.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
I had to keep going back because the software changed some of my selections. In fact, upon printing the return, I found that my personal info, including my name wasn't on the return. I used the program last year where I had to take an energy tax credit and while everything worked on the Federal return, it completely botched the State. I spent the better part of 4 months last year going back and forth because the State did not help me because certain forms weren't defaulted with the H & R software.
I've used H&R for many years. It's easy to use and very thorough. I haven't been audited yet (knock on wood). I can't imagine ever not using this software.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
On the first 1040 format, the import did not work and when I went through the process, the 1040 program was not correct. I had to start another 1040 form. When I did that the import and program worked well. The State form was very easy to use after the 1040 form was filled out.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast
