Everything was great and my e-files were accepted. Then for a very simple and straight forward return way is the IRS holding up my return and doing an audit.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

This software recognizes prior years and imports all prior forms used to make it a breeze to update for current year. However, this year they made it almost "too easy" and defaulted to selections that did not apply to us. We could not "uncheck" their default boxes, though Lord knows I tried! There was also some confusion about what to do with non-cash donations. First there was a form, then no form, then a form again, and finally no form. Very confusing. I like the running total of tax owed/refund due, but it didn't always update properly and I got a couple of surprises when it did finally update. However, it really makes doing our own taxes SO much easier. Otherwise we'd have to pay someone.

Cons: Hard to fix issues

Tax Software Works Well, PDF Software is Junk

I have been using H&R Block tax software for the last 8 years and have been pretty happy with it. The tax preparation portion works well. When it comes to printing, though, it is a mixed bag. Printing to paper works great, and looks nice - very professional. However, the PDF printer software (PDF995) that comes with the tax software is totally worthless. Each time I use it (whether with the tax software or with some other application) it either crashes the application or creates a PDF file that is missing most all the text in the document. And it has done the same thing every year. Why does H&R Block keep including it with the tax software? I don't know. It just frustrates me.

Limitations

I have used H&R Block software for 4 years. Seems like each year there are more and more limitations. I have yet to successfully eFile a State return. Main gripe is the space limits for descriptions. What? Why?
Pros: Easy to import
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to fix issues, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I first used H&R Block last year and the experience was completely positive. There was no question that I would again use H&R Block Deluxe for 2017. The experience was trouble-free and proceeded smoothly from start to finish--except for one problem that I created by, in effect, starting in the middle of the process. I formerly used another provider and had a very unpleasant exprience. I am a steadfast advocate of H&R Block.

I have been using H&R Block for many years and have complete trust in the online program. I look for it in my mmail box each year and simply follow along.

Each year I have the same problems in saving my tax filings. I feel it would be best if the CD I purchased each year allowed me to reinsert it in the computer as I did to download program, after filing, and my tax info is saved to the same disc. I could then keep it as my backup. I did what I thought was correct but I really doubt I saved it again this year. That, I guess is a SENIOR moment. I really like the H&R Block tax prep but I cannot save it to a CD. I know that is not a tax prep issue but a computer knowledge problem.
