have used other tax software in the past and I find this one to be the worst of all the ones I have used. I needed to delete a copy of a form , would not let me delete even though no info on form. It does not let me flow my info in on a smooth bases. Always having to jump back to check on info, not very informative on the forms I used. and do not feel it is very user friendly. I have done taxes several years mine and others, if I did not know what forms to use and what they needed for info would have been lost. I feel a inexperience person on taxes our some one who just started doing there own would have been lost.
I completed my State of Minn return after an update from H&R. My return showed a balance owed of $785 which seemed reasonable. I did not file or print until after the second update which then showed $2,173 refund. I printed and filed. A subsequent update showed a balance owed again $785. I had not changed any entries. Now I have to file and amended, not good
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare
Quick and easy - was able to complete my taxes without much fuss. Really appreciate the ability to load in last year's data. Helps me to make sure I have everything covered.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
Do not use this software! Used it last year and it did a fine job. This year, with over $40,000 AGI, H&R Block Deluxe comes up with us needing to pay $0, that is zero, in federal taxes. And, trying to e-file, it automatically put in our 2016 AGI as over $15 million dollars (I wish) and would not allow me to change it to the correct number. So, now I don't trust anything it did and will have to re-do my taxes by hand. I found no way to contact them about this, not a phone number, live-chat, or email address. It was a waste of money and time. Be warned!
It can't even handle simple sales of stocks and does not accomodate long term capital gains, I HAD TO MANUALLY COMPLETE THE 8949 FORM AND NURSE THE 1041 FORM
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to fix issues
I paid for this program thinking that I could e-file my state taxes. However in the income area I had use the plain 1099-r form to report my military income. This form does not provide for a block 14 entry stating State distribution of funds. The state of Ohio requires this input if you have state withholding take out in order to e-file. So this program is useless to me for that purpose.
