the 1099CSA was difficult to complete because worksheet A was not definitive in computing in the taxable amount. I have done this since 1992 and this is the first year to experience a problem.
Cons: Hard to fix issues

I've been using HR Block Tax software since it was TaxCut... I wouldn't go anywhere else.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast

Only problem was that it wouldn't file electronically. It kept getting kicked back and one of the things it said was that sometimes it won't file electronically. No big deal. I printed it and will send it in the mail.

Needs more detail in help

I've used H&R block for the past few years. While it's easy to use and offers some tax help and explanations of forms, this help is always lacking. This year I needed extra help on an item, and the program's help had maybe one short sentence for explanation. I clicked a web link to get more help, and after much looking around on the website, I still could not find the subject. Of smaller importance, but annoying, the software looks lousy on a high DPI monitor (it even warned me during installation that I should lower my monitor's resolution. C'mon, you guys make enough money to improve these things.
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to import
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund

Great features, no for deceased executor, tho

I have used the Deluxe Software for 20 years or more. And it has always minimized my time spent filing my own taxes and my granddaughter's.
It's first shortcoming I have had an issue with is filing my deceased parents' final return. There were no instructions on handling the specific forms for registering and executor with the IRS to get older 1040s and to register as a fiduciary relationship. I would have gladly bought an extended package if I could have. I still love the deluxe package however.

Cons: Hard to fix issues

Won't Update, Won't Let Me File File

I've used H&R Block for years with no problem. This year is is a disaster. Bought it today (4/15/2018), keeps thinking it's January and asking me to update, and after it updates it won't let me finish or file. This is a defective product.
Cons: Hard to fix issues, Hard to install
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Why pay someone else to enter your data for you?

I've had my taxes done twice professionally and each time they used the H&R software themselves. I still had to pull all of my tax info together, I still had to answer all of the questions, I still had to sit there while they just entered my data as I spoke to them. So why not do it myself, save hundreds of dollars and do it from my own home on my time?
Pros: Easy to install, Easy to fix issues, Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import, Fast
