I've been using your Deluxe tax software for many years, but am getting increasingly annoyed by things like having to reenter drivers license info between the Fed and State forms. Nonsense- fix that! Also, the last few years have been a major pain in terms of entering and differentiating between federally tax free and state tax free interest income. I've had to go over and over the actual forms and worksheets to push and pull values to get it right. I have a worksheet fixed and then a HRB dialog box comes up with a totally different tax free value.
Also, most of your "Help" menus and suggestions are useless at this level.

The software did a decent job on the addition and subtraction. It failed when adding a long-term capital loss to to my numbers for next year. There was another failure somewhere because I tried to file the return electronically, and it repeatedly bounced from the IRS website telling my to check the software for the problem. The HRb software didn't help at all. I ended up filing by snail mail and the IRS accepted it.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Your instructions are as bad as those from IRS. The section on excess RMD makes you think you have to enter the amount on the 1099. The one referring to the window there is very confusing. You need to make it clear that this refers to you ONLY IF YOU PUT EXCESSIVE MONEY in your IRA. Also for us with bad eyes when we enlarge the print the next button disappears below the page. Also some of the buttons do not work just like the sumbit one belsow. No explaination jus stays on screen

The Federal return software is thorough and easy to use. Unfortunately, there are glaring errors regarding Ohio School District return functionality. For example, there are multiple notices that form SD 100 needs to be printed and physically mailed. For the cost of the software, all forms should be able to be electronically submitted.
Adding to the confusion, the "Check Your E-file Status" screen shows (and continues to show) a pending Ohio School District return status; which makes the user think the form *was* submitted electronically.
Pros: Easy to prepare
