I switched over to H&R Block after using TaxAct for several years. My tax return is simple, just barely enough investment activity to require a 1040 filing. HRB cost less to use and file and was slightly easier to work thru.
I've used this software for a number of years now and feel it does a nice job of calculating my taxes. Easy to use, appears very accurate and installs and updates easily. Problems with state e-file. Return was pending for 14 days, called tech support, several long waits and was told return was "hung up on sever" and would be processed but since it was the due date I should consider running down to the Post Office and file a paper return before midnight. E-file finally processed/accepted three days later. In essence I've now filed my return twice with NYS! I see a lot of letter writing/explaining in my future!
Considering the fact that when I needed the software most e filing did not work I am very disappointed. After 15 years I guess it is time to try another.
Excelent job on Ferderal Tax US based income, Great on individual states. Not that great when it is multiple states. Could do better with foreign investments
The software works well. However, when filing the state return, we received a message that our credit card was not authorized. That message was incorrect, and we now have three charges on our credit card for filing one state return.
