I have used H&R tax software for years and have been happy with it every year until this year. I was very disappointed in the program this year. I could not import last year's data to start with. I did not see the prompt for entering qualified charitable donations from my IRA the first time through the program. The individual on the help line could not help me. In the final check, two pieces of essential data did not transfer from my 1099-R s and had to be manually entered.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Purchased Federal and State programs. Was charged an additional fee to file my State return.
Tried to file a second Federal return and was unable to complete the return. Requested help. Someone repeatedly tried to help me but to no avail. I ended up filing that return on a completely different program.

H&R Block Deluxe worked well like it always does. I switched from TurboTax in 2020 when Inuit stopped supporting the macOS on my MacBook Pro. (I would have had to buy a new compute to use TurboTax that year by Intuit's approach.) The only real annoyance is that the Form dialog window, which one uses to look at the tax forms completed on your behave, won't go into the background and always eclipses what ever window I have active.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

It worked fine, but I found it very odd that they completely forgot about me this year. No mail. No email. No "don't forget us during tax season, buy now!". I've used them for years. Why no offers? I receive plenty of junk email offers for things I don't need every day.
