I have been using the H&R Block software for at least a decade. This year I got a disappointing surprise. This software no longer uploads information from Merrill Lynch. Do, I had to enter manually too much information. Next year, I will be using another tax software package.
Cons: Hard to import documents
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have been using H&R Block Deluxe software for many years, and have always found it to be accurate, reliable and generally easy to use. I certainly appreciate the convenience of year-to-year information carryover, and having the option to download data directly from financial companies. I would rate it 5 stars except for a problem I've had the past 2 years with the "Excess Accumulations" branch, which basically asks you to re-enter your normal RMD's even after having previously tallied them earlier in the program. This needs to be clarified as applying strictly to excess accumulations, otherwise you are doubling your RMD's!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents

I purchased H&R bloc Deluxe 2025 Software at the last minute because I couldn't get Turbo Tax to install on my notebook in spite of the fact that I had Windows 11. After trying to avoid purchasing Microsoft apps etc. I gave up. Block was compatible with Windows 10 on my desktop. It downloaded easily. It's a super clunky program compared to TurboTax and more expensive. It got the job done.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I expected that the program would import the 2024 return,which it wouldn’t do. So I had to retype everything. I probably should have tried TurboTax.
