You need to add a question regarding defined benefit pensions. The Alabama State program downloads pensions from the federal as taxable on the state. You have to know Alabama law to go to the tax form and show this as a deduction. It is not taxable in Alabama. This failure has caused me to overpay the state of Alabama taxes on $6,200 income for 17 years. I now have to file amended returns. A simple question on the input form would prevent this problem. Otherwise program seems OK.
This is an excellent, well-organized application. It is thoroughly logical in its presentation, and its instructions are succinct, yet clear as a bell. Good Job!
Used the program, filed my taxes, printed sheet that confirmed they were filed, got emails saying they were accepted, But program in computer keeps telling me I haven't filed my taxes so I can't check status. Can't seem to fix it
Very easy to use. Very complete and thorough. One quibble: I had to be aware that the accrued interest from my US Treasuries was not taxable and find the spot to enter this; I think it should have asked me up front.
First problem was how it printed the Fed. form, 1040. Not like last year which appeared normal. This time, Top of page one of 1040 was blended with bottom of Page 2 of 1040. I printed twice using different print options each time and both the same. However all the numbers were correct. I printed both State and Federal and then progressed into e-file of both. Something blew up at that point and when I tried to recapture my location, it would not recognize state form as needing e-file, too. Basically, I had to do state over (not hard in my case). Then it to past the initial glitch and did proper e-file.
