Not at all happy, issues I had last year are still present, next year I'll go with another company. I could not file my state returns without a fee, even though state e-filing is free. Its not much of a bargain with these other fees added

I also used the on-line version of HR Block and I like the layout and functionality much better. It costs more than the software which I don't totally understand. The reason for using the online version was that the software showed a large liability. It turns out that I made a mistake entering social security payments. I was able to quickly identify the error on-line. That was not the case with the software.

I have purchased H&R Block tax software every year starting back in 2001 when it was called TaxCut. The program is very good for my uncomplicated tax situation. Two ideas for improvement: 1) once I review Data Verifications, allow the program to not show them again; 2) the Tax Planning topic is complicated and confusing -- I generally plan next year's estimated tax payments based on this year's payments and on my refund/owe amount. Perhaps the software could base its recommendations on my current income/deduction situation and then ask if I expect anything to change in the coming year, instead of starting from scratch in the interview process?
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

I have used H&R Block tax software many times in the past, and it worked well. This year, 2025, had software bugs and many problems. I purchased the Deluxe + State version and used it on a MAC. When I went to prepare the state it charged me $ and I had to call to get that reversed. The when I filed the state it charged me 3 times for the state submission fee, and had to call again. The software buttons would not activate unless I clicked to the side of them. This worked but it's a sign of barely tested software. Some of my information was not transferred to from Federal to State, so I had to do part of State manually. Plus other little things. I think the accuracy was good, but the software bugs made more work for me, which was annoying.
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
