I have used HRBlock software for the past 5 years. As in the past, previous year's data loads into the new year to minimize extra data entry. Software is question-driven so it asks you about your financial situation and then decides what exemptions and deductions to choose. I have been very happy with the software and have never been audited so I must conclude it works perfectly.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

State tax program

Your state tax program goes not support Louisiana non resident tax return. What software do you suggest that I use? I have used hr block for years. I need to get your thoughts or help or I will have to change tax service. Thanks

Problem with program not responding

Have used this product for several years. One problem is that it will stop responding and then you have to wait, while the ball spins, for the program to begin to function again. This happened multiple times during preparation of taxes and it was not related to saving the file.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

i have used H&R tax and its predecessor software for the last 30 years or so. I will not use another product.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Capital Gains/Losses only downside

I've been using HR Block tax software for years and have been pleased all these years. Never had issues with directions clear and concise and easy to fill out. This year was first year had to submit capital gains forms and interview was not as clear as I think should be for first timers. Spent almost 20 minutes chatting on line with tax advisor to get clearer instructions. That is why some of pros/cons are contradictory.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

Might get a better return had I went into HR block but I figure the extra would have been lost by paying more for the service. Program was easy to use and walked me through even some of the harder to understand steps regarding sale of a home
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Hard to import documents

Used H&R Block Software for the last 4 yrs. Easy to Use. Will definitely use next year. I am a Senior so bigger and darker fonts would be appreciated:)
