My favorite tax software, made easy with e-filing option for both fed and state. My taxes are complicated, and I find the format to be reasonably easy to use. I have depended on HR Block for many years.

Let down by HRBlock

I've used HRBlook for years but this year the application is not meeting my needs. The federal tax part of the application had an error that prevented e-filling, okay it happens. This also prevented state e-filing, and the application would not allow me to print state filling from the application.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

There are always bugs in this software. I really do not like overwritting your answers. Then there was one where you told me to just overwrite the wrong answer.
Checking the downloaded 1099s is a pain. The information check is only checking how well your software copied the files. When thwe are hundreds of transactions especially 1099-B this is a problem. Some of these transactions were either zero gain or loss or they were so small your sofware rounded them to "0". Then the error check comes up with an error and will not accept my saying it is OK. I had to delete these pages completely to work around it. The IRS sent us a nasty letter two years ago because theri information did not match our return; like there were sales missing.
These things make me think of Turbotax

Good and Bad

I liked I could prepare my 2025 returns using Win 10 and not have to upgrade to Win 11, like TurboTax makes its clients. However, in H&R, one cannot print more than one copy of a return at any time. And the Colorado No tax on Overtime addition does not come up automatically, you have to override it in the form itself.
I would recommend this to a friend!
