I used a software program to backup my H&R Block file for 2025, and a mistake was made in the save. I have a paper copy of the return, so we are okay. We sent the federal return through your software. We got an email from you that the 2025 return was accepted by the government. But now, we can't get any more status methods with your software, concerning the federal return, since we don't have the original file. Can we get any status methods through your company?

I've been using HR Block Deluxe for over 15 years, but this year was probably the last time. When I tried to import financial data from Merrill Lynch and Wealthfront, neither of them were available to select. Therefore, I had to spend many hours manually inputting all transactions. Otherwise the software is great, but it's supposed to safe me time, not cause me more work.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is the first time that I have used an H&R Block product for tax preparation and I wonder why I waited so long. I was generally pleased with the Deluxe 2025 software except for several issues with 1099-B data entry, due to rounding, and 1099-R data entry due to error checking.
My 1099-B issues occurred because all inputs are rounded on data entry, computations are performed using those rounded values, and calculations are performed (sale price less cost/basis), and comparisons are made (wash sale). On more than one instance, this resulted in wash sale greater than calculated profit for single sales.
The 1099-R issue was because gross distribution (1) was different than taxable amount (2a) and taxable amount was correctly used for the state distribution on the form, but error checking appeared to want gross distribution used as state distribution.

The software has bugs, specificaly when W-2 amount is low so no taxes were taken it always report ir as error. If SDI amount on W-2 is zero it show critical error that has to be fixed which does not make sense.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming

Broken sales tax deduction

I live in Texas for 2025, which has no state income tax. Thus software should have let me add sales tax deduction. Instead I had to manually go to the sales tax deduction section
