1. Had trouble going back to find 2019 and fill in 1040-ES (your "Take Me To" lists this as 2018) and way down under "Plan". 2. Also never could go back and find the estimated tax section for CA state. 3. Very annoying is that double clicking on a word or amount won't select a whole word or total amount. This is basic stuff folks. 5. Can’t select to copy instructions to put into a text document. Had to take a picture and copy and paste that into Word. 4. Even this ridiculously small window wouldn't let me use Enters to separate the items. Very crude. I over came this by typing this into Word and pasting it into this small window.
The interview method is fairly straightforward, although some of the more esoteric items are difficult to understand. For example why does Schedule C Business summary show royalty income as $0 even though the 1099-MISC shows and amount AND it is added to the total business income. This is confusing if you are trying to follow along with the logic to understand what is reported where, and why. Also, PLEASE, permit the user to select whether they want to take the federal and state standard deductions or to itemize deductions. There are valid reasons a person may elect to pay a little more using one or the other, especially when state tax law doesn't conform with federal tax law. I spent hours having to massage the program and make duplicate versions of returns to determine what was the best to do.
