this was my first year to report and be taxed on IRA distributions, and some of the reporting and the variety of documents from financial institutions were confusing. Also, I owed taxes, and was surprised after selecting the pay by credit card option, having irrevocably submitted my Fed return, that I owed an additional 'convenience fee'. this should have been noted at the selection process, not after I could not recall my return and make another choice.
Tennessee has changed their payment web site and will not take payments on it until May 29th according to the page the SOFTWARE LINKED TO! But, you've already dinged my credit card for an epay charge!
I bought this online being told one state return was included in the package. When ready to file the state return was required to pay additional for it! Dry bad feeling about H&R now after using the product the last 7 years.
This is a very user friendly program. You don't have to be an accountant to understand what is going on. As I was getting to the filing, it went through and charged my credit card for the state filing but then stopped. It said that it had to update the program before I continued. I did the update and went through again. No problems....except it charged my credit card twice! Now I have to figure out who to call to get a refund for the double charge.
I never did my taxes. I would bring my papers to an accountant. I didn't trust myself to do them right. Now I use H &R Block software and I save over $100.00 that I used to pay to the accountant.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
