For more that I decade I was a Turbotax user until the infamous year where Intuit tried to gouge its previous customers by forcing them to upgrade if they wanted to import 1099s - a feature that had been part of the regular package for years. It was then I switched to H&R Block software, and I have never looked back. The Block software does everything I need, it will download 1099s from the web if your institution offers that service. It puts the numbers in the right boxes, checks the calculations, determines your odds of an audit, and files the return at the press of a button. Best of all, the software was written by an organization that has been training tax preparers and filing returns for about as long as I've been alive. You can have full confidence in them.
I especially like that the previous year's 1040 is brought in. It saves time of reentering data. More importantly, it is a reminder that saves work and not forgetting important deductions that may be considered in the current filing.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
