H&R Block software is fine for federal tax returns, but the DC product is terrible. To give one example, if you choose married filing separately, it will only prepare the return for one filer. It also does not let you easily compare your tax burden filing in different ways (separately, separately on the same return, jointly). Every year I get a penalty and additional tax bill from DC.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

TurboTax abandoned customers who are still using Windows 10, as are a lot of people. H&R Block to the rescue! I will be using H&R Block tax software from now on. It worked perfectly, and is easy to use. There is no reason to go back to TurboTax. I will purchase again next year.

Too buggy and not as intuitive as in past years

This year, there seemed to be quite a few bugs/updates. One in particular was that the software was not intuitive as far as my ability to easily report my 2025 RMD and related QCDs. And, there should be an easier method than what you provided for figuring out estimated taxes for the coming year. I fdid find a work around, but, I was very disappointed in the software for not leading me in this direction. I would like to continue using the H and R Block software in the future,so,I hope there will be improvements moving forward.

Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

needs work entering royalty trust investment K1

I had trouble with entering data for a royalty trust I was not able to get the system to enter the data easily it took multiple phone calls to support. Who also did not really know how to enter the data, Specifically Permian Basin Royalty Trust. They recommended entering the data on Schedule E and gave the lines etc, But if you try to override the data it would prevent you from effiling.
