The program only gave me one form 4972 to print. Information was completed for two 1099R's.
Pros: Easy to prepare

Great features

I am been using this software for about 10 years and never have any trouble. This year with the changes to the tax laws they eliminate my Investment expenses and i have to use the standard deduction and screw me.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Make printing forms easier

Make it easier to print page 1 and 2 federal form 1040. This is required for paper filing of state taxes. I don't need any other forms with it. Also exclude checking account information on this form

Form 8938 Interview is Unreliable/Incorrect

Form 8938 - I had to manually reselect checkboxes, responding to interview questions results in invalid selections otherwise the Form was not getting included in my return.

LONG WAY TO MUCH EASIER & JUST AS ACCURATE RESULT

I HAVE USED TAX CUT BY BLOCK FOR ABOUT 20 YEARS NOW. I FIND THAT ESPECIALLY THIS YEAR, THE UP FRONT PREP GUIDELINES COULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN SO AS TO MINIMIZE TIME USING THE PACKAGE.
IT DOESN'T EVEN DO THAT NOW THAT THE STANDARD DEDUCTS. ARE SO HIGH.
I COULD HAVE FINISHED MY RETURN IN 30 MINUTES BUT INSTEAD IT TOOK 3 HOURS OF WADING THROUGH A LOT OF UNNECESSARY STUFF THAT COULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT UNLESS I HAD A LOT (LIKE TELLING ME WHAT A LOT WOULD BE) OF DEDUCTION TOTALS WERE GIVEN UP FRONT, I COULD HAVE SAVED HOURS IN THE PREP. I DIDN'T BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW HOW FAR I WAS FROM IT NOT MAKING ANY DIFFERENCE. I COULD HAVE USED A LOT OF BALLPARK ESTIMATES INITIALLY, TO SEE IF I WAS JUST WASTING TIME TO GET ALL THE PRECISE DETAILS.

IN THE FUTURE AS MY SITUATION WILL BE MORE COMPLICATED, I WILL PAY AN EXPERIENCED CPA AND NOT WASTE MY INCREASINGLY VALUABLE TIME AS I GET OLDER AND HAVE FEWER YEARS OR EVEN HOURS TO WASTE ON WHAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH SIMPLER PREP. TAX CUT IS A LONG WAY TO GET TO A FASTER AND MORE DIRECT RESULT!
ALSO, I DON;T LIKE THE WAY H&R BLOCK TRIES TO GET ME TO UPGRADE MY PACKAGE WHEN I ALREADY INVESTED MONEY WHAT WAS A PERFECTLY ADAQUATE VERSION BECAUSE OF A SINGLE ISSUE THAT WOULDN'T IMPACT MY FINAL RESULT OF TAX LIABILITY ANYWAY. 20 YEARS IS A LONG TIME TO BE PATIENT WITH SOMETHING THAT HASN'T MADE ANYTHING IN PREP MORE EXPEDIENT. THIS IS WHY TAXPAYERS HATE DOING TAXES!

Poorly done. Getting worse every year.

Two major complaints. 1) Does not reveal the amount of the service fee for online payment. It is 2.5% through pay1040. This adds up quickly and in my case is unreasonable. 2) Colorado State prep and payment is abysmal. Instructions for payment tell me "go to the colorado gov site and follow instructions there." THAT"S THE WHOLE POINT OF THIS SOFTWARE, HRB.

It would be great if the program could be more specific to each person using it. For example if you have 2 kids and you don’t get the full $4000 credit the program explains why you didn’t. In the same way for an energy credit the program would tell you there is a cap on how much credit you can get and the rest will carry forward into the next year etc.
