Made it really simple.

Overall, the program is easy to use and self-explanatory. Good prompts to remind of things to think about. The one thing I'd make more easily available would be the search function. I had to hunt to find it and used it several times for completion of forms that didn't automatically show up.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Absolutely painless

We've been using H&R Block's tax software for many years and I can't imagine trying to do our taxes any other way. The interface is clean and simple and the software walks you through the entire filing process without bogging you down in a raft of confusing forms. In fact, you never really deal with any actual IRS forms at all (unless you choose to do so). If there is anything I'd improve it would be to include a bit more robust contextual help. I should be able to right click on literally any and every box during the process and get a contextual explanation of what's being asked. The help function is fine, but I think it could be beefed up a bit.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast

Program seems to import correctly and the channeling of steps to complete the horribly complex tax return and code and regulations seems pretty good, but the way graphics are displayed and especially input is crowded into too small spaces leaves a lot to be desired. Further, it carries over to print, so that some numbers are truncated.
This may be due to the setting I use in order to see the tiny print (+125%), but I would rather blame that on the program than on these aged eyeballs.

Every year that I make a QCD from my IRA, I must explain it to the IRS in writing, after they notify me of an error. I have written you in the past about the fact that your program does not provide a provision to enter this information and it is not in the interview.
Pros: Fast
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have used H&R for several years. Program is well organized and easy to use. To over simplify perhaps, it is just answering the questions and viola' you are done.
Of course if you don't organize and have your tax documents readily available...well, any program or in-office preparer you will find it challenging. But if you do have your stuff ready, it really is simple.
I keep coming back based upon pricing, prior performance and ease of use.
I haven't been audited so I can't say what the use of a H&R professional agent is like...but based upon the other...I would suspect it is very helpful.

I have used several of the competitor's products, and H&R Block has the best format and is the simplest to use. It is also very easy to get the help you need for a few more dollars (hence my choice in the Deluxe version). This year's taxes were easier than before, so I didn't need to use the online help feature, but is was great to have it available if I ran into a problem.
