Primary function of the tax software is awesome

I have used this software for years and always find it easy to use and understand. The tax prepartion part is great and I will contintue to use it every year. My challenge with software is the planning part. I am self employed now I cannot figure out how to get estimated taxed forms filled out thru the software. It wants to auto fill federal tax deductions even though I put in zeros. So every way I have tried it comes out and says you wont owe anything. So I will continue to do that part manually. But the primary function of the software doing and filing the taxes is GREAT!
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Many missing features that i had to look elsewhere

I bought this for years and weird things happened in this like it penalized me for contributing to my Roth IRA. I had to look elsewhere for information and then go fill out the correct forms. I really felt like I didn't pay the absolute minimum taxes. Nor does this SW do any planning to prepare for 2019. I have to believe there is a better solution out there than this.
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Disappointed with the HSA section

I have used H&R Block to complete my tax returns for a long time, I’ve actually never used another software program. I’ve always been pleased with the program until this year. When trying to complete the HSA section, specifically Form 8889 the software was not helpful in the least. It only referred me to the IRS website, which is completely unhelpful. I feel like my situation is pretty common (I have a HDHP with HSA for me and my kids and my wife has a HDHP with HSA for herself) but this section did not help me complete this form given my situation at all. Granted I got lucky this year bc my wife didn’t actually start her HSA until 2019 but I fear completing my taxes for 2019 given we will both have a HSA and file jointly. I hope H&R Block really takes this into consideration and the program becomes more helpful and useful in this section and provides some guidance and examples of how to complete.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Extremely unfriendly software

1. Did not import W2 information correctly. Took forever to load the W2 form and then when I clicked OK to confirm, the whole application crashed. This happened multiple times. I am not paying money to enter everything manually!! It is stupid!
2. To get the 1099-INT form, they do not have an option to connect with BofA! That is just plain stupid! This is one of the biggest banks and they don't provide a hook up with them.
3. The interface was very poor in general. Too many questions and very little explanation.

Best Tax Software

I switched from Turbo Tax years ago. I have used H&R Block Deluxe ever since. It is less expensive and very easy to use. Two Thumbs up!!

I have used the product for about 10 years in a PC environment, but needed to convert to my MAC this year, for a variety of technical issues on my end. Had some issues this year that are probably user driven differences between the PC and MAC environments. But, I pushed through and finished my fed and state returns in about 4 hours of time. It would have been faster but I had to input a lot of data that is usually updated by the system.
Pros: Easy to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!
