Can’t correct State Return

I purchased Federal and State with efile I had to correct my Stare Return and had to purchase another State efile because the software would not let me file the corrected return
federal tax program was good. I completed that one and successfully e-filed it to the Federal Government. The South Carolina tax program was not complete. It would not acknowledge my deduction for being retired over 65 years old line p1. I went over and over the program but could not find where I could clam the deduction. It kept telling me I owed over $700. I finally added the deduction to line v (other subtractions; which was wrong but it gave me the correct amount I owed. So I finally printed a copy of the return. I crossed out the amount in line v and added it to line p1 (retirement deduction). I initialed each change I made so they would know I was the one that had made them. The program did give me the military retirement deduction p4. I was not eligible for ,the over 65 deduction q1. After all of the hassle I gathered all the forms, put them in an envelope and mailed them to Columbia. I don’t know what I’ll do next year.
I am disappointed that, having bought the Deluxe + State that that does not include the cost of efile-ing the state return. I am further disappointed that the VA state software does not include form 760C - having to download, print, and manually complete the computations needed to determine if we may owe a penalty makes H&R Blocks's State software incomplete. At the least you could prompt for the needed details and do the math. I'll be looking for an actual complete set of common forms from competitors next year or resurrect my own VA spreadsheets.
This product I have been using about 15 years and it is easy to use and simplifies tax preparation given the many complexities in preparing a return. The electronic filing also make it a pleasure to use requiring two less mailings to IRS and Stae Tax Bureau - not to mention receiving their receipt of the tax return.
I like this except for the Itemized Worksheets. Once you add them, you cannot easily get to them. And when you do, they take you out of where you were if you click the wrong one.
