When we were doing out taxes part of the page we couldn't see ! this made it difficult to read . We were guessing on what it was telling us.
Cons: Time consuming

Pretty good and easy entry for most items. But some changes need to be made to be much better. This year I definitely needed to estimate taxes for next year. But the planning was a mess. It did not account for Social Security income, pension income, and RMDs. As such, it was useless. Other itmes are 1) Put the interest on Schedule A instead of referring to a summary. There is plenty of room for 15 entires. If more are required, then an interest summary can be provided. 2) For printing, please allow more selections or fix it so that you don't print all of the schedules from Form 1040 on separate pages. You can even put three on one page as well then print out only those that had entries entered. In addition, eliminate printing the supporting statements for Form 4797 if no entries are made. Finally, don't print out Form 8582 AMT if it is not selected. It did it twice. PLEASE listen and make changes since some have been provided before.

Great for federal, state not so good

I have been using TaxCut (H&R Block) for over 20 years. It's always been good for federal. I now can do Montana (non resident) and it's not telling me how to file. it just leaves you hanging.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast
Cons: Hard to import documents

Makes Filing Taxes Less Stressful

I have been using H&R Block Deluxe software for several years with great satisfaction. The program makes completing tax forms much easier than on paper & less expensive than hiring a tax expert.. Highly recommended.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Fast

Not flawless

For the last few years, H&R Block's software has had deficiencies that they don't fix:
For instance, form 1116 is not in interview style. Worse. when there are multiple forms, the foreign tax credit does not add up correctly. Furthermore, copies of form 1116 disappeared from 2017 file.
Also, K-1 is extremely user-unfriendly.
Also, W-2 form box 12W does not make distinction employer/employee contribution in interview.
Also, line 21 (other income) does not work correctly.

Cut taxes down to size

Returned to H&R after a few years absence and glad I did. Simple, logical review of my financial situation made getting taxes done a pretty quick and mostly painless effort.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
