Easy to use - not complicated - Great!

Switched from Turbo about three years ago when they deleted capital gains. Turbo was more complicated and costly than H&R Block. Still happy I switched.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents, Fast

Almost great

Does a wonderful job of taking into account all types of income, deductions, etc. Only problem I had was summary and filing printout did not include Schedule A for detailing medical and charitable deductions, of which I have significant amounts. The IRS would not be amused

Dissatisfied with product this year

I've used HR Block tax program for several years now, and three times have run into problems that needed to be fixed before i could e file. Last year and this year I got error messages concerning vehicle write off for self employment expenses. The "error" was highlighted red and narrative said it needed to be fixed, but there isn't anyway to correct it from the error screen. Last year I gave up and took a hit on taxes, this year I scrolled back and back and finally came to a screen where I could fix the problem.
My biggest complaint this year is that the program imported the wrong information for last years AGI causing my initial e-filing to be rejected. I do not know where it got the numbers it plugged into the form this year, maybe they were 2016 AGI.
After a stressful period of trying to figure out the problem, and trying several times to fix it, I finally was able to correct it. Fortunately I had printed out the first 2 pages of my return from last year, and was able to locate the correct information. The procedure to fix this problem and the one for vehicles should be as simple as pointing, clicking and inputting data instead of trying to figure out what the problem is and potentially spending an hour or so to fix it.
I will use the product again, but no longer fully trust it to import crucial information correctly with out reviewing it.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to import documents

The Rental Income section is horrible. You are asking for rental, depreciation by property but during Expense calculation there is no option to select the property. One need to run several trial and error to find out what is the correct process

I have been using H&R Block software for the past 5 years and it's so easy to use, plus it imports data from the previous year.

More than 4 States - Way to Difficult

Program is good up to a point. I expected a user friendly experience for working in more than 4 states. Program is limited to entering 4 states. More than 4 have to be entered with duplicate W2s - doesn't indicate that anywhere. Help feature is terrible - had to call to get this direction. May not be different with other programs - but lack of clarity and lack of easy support made it way too difficult.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Comprehensive product that handles all tax

I have been using this product for over 20 years even way back when it was branded as Taxcut. It is much more intuitive and comprehensive than Turbo Tax even after all these years. If you take the time to learn how to navigate through the various sections of the program using the tabs at the top of the page, it then becomes very easy to directly “go to” any section at any time to change or review your input.
I would recommend this to a friend!
