Very happy with this product. The only problem is the limited ability to print only the desired tax return pages. For example, Form 1040 now has 6 related schedules some of which contain no data, but I had no choice but to print all 6 schedules.
I bought the software and I had to pay for the state also and if want to e file the states you have to pay for that too and they double charge you to e file and the number they put on the charge it’s incorrect
Cons: Time consuming, Doesn't maximize refund, Hard to prepare
Very good, except for publicly traded partnerships

The software is easy to install, set up, and use. The basics of W-2, some interest income, and some dividends is well handled. My spouse and I have investment accounts, and the software this year handled some non-qualified dividends and some long-term and short-term capital gains and losses very well, an improvement over last year. Unfortunately, the programs do not handle K-1s from publicly traded partnerships, and these took a lot of time and reference to IRS pubs. In addition, the instructions for Schedule B Part lll, Foreign Accounts, should be better than those in the IRS form, and should expound on when a Form 8938 is required for tax filing (for US citizen, foreign accounts of $100,000 at 12/31/18 or $150,000 anytime) or when a FinCen Form 114 (over $10,000 in all foreign accounts at any time) to be filed by April 15 (automatically extended to October 15).
Easy to use even for self-employed/Sch C return. It imports all your personal info & W2s from previous yrs, would be better if it also imported 1099 info from previous year's return.
I had to run the federal program twice, once with itemized deductions and once without, to produce a federal return using the standard deduction and a California return using itemized deductions. Also, the software lacked an adequate explanation of why I couldn't take mortgage interest and property taxes as part of our home office deduction. After I read the IRS instructions, I understood it was because we took the federal standard deduction for the first time this year.
I have using H&R Block tax software for greater than 15 years and as always find it extremely easy to use and quick. I have even filed amended returns effortlessly, never had a question from the IRS.
