Handles all the straight forward stuff just great. Titles says for Investors, but for me it does a very poor job of handling a partnership K-1 that has foreign transactions and investment interest. Instead of using the data I input in the best spot for me the app asks me on what form I want to put the info and how I want to use it.
I continue to be impressed with the performance of the software as a legacy product that understands the continuity of last year's return. My only issues this year: It had computed my state return before I'd put in a single piece of info; and there should be a medical insurance FAQ for people like me: Employed, but with getting health insurance from the employer. I can't consider myself self-employed, so it took me a long time to figure out that it goes as a medical expense, and the deduction was insignificant. Moreover, the software makes you work very hard going all this itemization when taking the standard deduction was probably inevitable. I think the software should give broad parameters and make a recommendation before you do all the work for nothing. Efiling charge for the state is too high. It cost me 10 times less to mail it.
Year after year H&R Block comes through with the best and ease of use software. What once was a nightmare doing taxes is now a pleasure giving Sam his cut.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Easy to follow, but with the tax changes I doubt I'll need it again seeing as I was forced to use the standard deduction. Want to keep a customer? Let me file (as I did this year with you) and use my credit card to pay my bill (as I did this year) BUT open a service that will let me use my credit card without imposing a ridiculous "convenience fee." It cost me over $100 to use my credit card to pay my taxes.
