What bothers me and cost me a few bucks is I specifically selected ePayment to IRS & State to come out of my savings account; they provide the option to withdraw from savings which I selected but both payments came out of checking and thus I was overdrawn. Very disappointing
I recommend that you modify your software to allow the user to download stock & option transactions from MS Excel. The information that is downloaded from the Broker Dealer into your tax software is formatted very poorly. As a result, as a user I have to download the information into MS Excel and then properly format it and group transactions together and input the information line by line into your tax software. It would be significantly easier, if I could just put the information into particular columns in MS Excel and then upload the entire MS Excel file into your tax software instead.
I've used the H&R Block Tax Software for about 5 years after using another popular software for a couple of years. The H&R Block Software is BY FAR the better product. It's simple to use, walking you easily through process steps that are entirely intuitive, and finishing with excellent filing and file retention methods. I would recommend this product to anyone who does their own tax return.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
Several years ago I used "the other tax program" for a few years then tried this one to see what the difference was. The difference in ease of use made me into a total convert I have used this software for YEARS! A GREAT thing this year was I did not have pay for the State Income Tax form this year. I live in one of the seven states that does not have a state sales tax but this was the first year I could buy a version of the program that had ONLY the Federal tax form. So with all of this praise, why did I give a four star rating? Because this year I ran into a couple of glitches in the interview process that resulted in a number of flags in the final review that had to be corrected which was very annoying even if it did not take too long to correct. One involved separating sales data from a joint investment account and data from a traditional IRA distribution. The other involved a 1099-MISC for oil royalties my spouse receives. Other than these glitches, which I expect came about because the radical new tax law and which I fully expect will be corrected for the 2019 tax year, I will continue to use this program.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Maximizes refund, Easy to import documents, Fast
