Good, but not near perfect.

I have used HR Block Deluxe tax software and its predecessors for more than 20 years, over that period of time the software has greatly simplified a horribly complicated annual task. I am a small investor in the Stock Market, which just complicates the whole tax filing task enormously. I find that the section of the H&R Block software is not very helpful with the topic of tax credit for foreign taxes withheld. Trying to understand the IRS 'guidance' publications is a nightmare. Please, H&R Block, take another look at that portion of your software from the point of view of others like me who are not professional tax accountants.

Average software, But they have problems

If its not simple then the software has problems that they don't want to deal with. Some questions are simply wrong. They brag about Help but then hide help many layers deep so you can't find it.
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare, Hard to import documents

Cumbersome?

More cumbersome that previous years. Practically needed to re-learn from 2017 edition. Did like the comparison to the new tax law.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Questions hard

I found many questions that i didn't understand and entered an amount twice. It made my tax to pay very high and inaccurate. I had to go over it completely many times. This year I was in the hospital for a lengthy time and had to file very late. I felt the program vague in that area. I have used the program for many years.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

Totally sucks this year

I have used H&R Tax preparation software for over 20 years, and this year, it couldn't find my previous years return using the program which is saved in several formats on my local computer. And also, when I tried to efile, the federal government rejected due to a an adjusted gross income number, which was correct on my 2017 return. Unfortunately, I won't be using this software ever again even though I have to pay for the deluxe edition every year.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Overall I just like it better than Turbotax. There had been placed in the pst, with Turbotax, in which I could not edit entries [as though turbtax had those areas LOCKED].
Taxcut has allowed me to go back and update form figures without jumping through a bunch of hoops.
