I wish you would place a priority on front end establishment of senior/fully retired status. Every year I am challenged by the fact that I have to cycle through entering 1099 ONLY income. It is confusing and annoying. Also, the many, many types of passive income that are not needed on my return, but that I must nonetheless, cycle through. Are all those negative responses really necessary for a return as simple as mine? It makes me wonder whether I have other options.
Pros: Maximizes refund
Cons: Time consuming, Hard to prepare

2026 tax software improvements

I like the software, but there are several areas which could use improvement.
1. This form. You cannot scroll in the review box.
2. The font is very small and dim. You might be able to make 1 page bigger, but then is goes back to small.
3. It is very hard to find state (MN) form. When you clock on State, the only option is to start the state over and you lose your previous work
4. It would be really nice to ba able to “gray out” a section that I have gone through. When I restart the program, it is as though you have not done anything. I have to search for where I left off.
5. Would appreciate it if there was a generic search function. The AI assistant isn’t very useful.

I have spent 3 hours on the phone with the help desk and they still have not solved my problem. All I am trying to do is to import 1099 documents from a financial institution, a very basic capability. I tried on a Windows machine and Mac and they both fail.
Cons: Hard to import documents
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
