Software was not able to handle processing of 1042-S and has led to rejection from IRS two years in a row using H&R Block. There was no other problem overall.

I found a software item that could have prevented a problem when I entered my checking account routing number. I made a mistake in entering the routing number. I thought the marking at the beginning of the routing number was the first number and was a 1, so I entered it along with the actual number. That made the number too long, but the software accepted it and I submitted my e-file with it in error. It could have been caught by the software limiting the number of characters allowed. It caught my mistake in my State entry. But I didn't have enough insight to go back to my federal entry and correct it. Limiting the length of the routing number could have prevented a big problem with the IRS.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Easy to import documents

I run Windows 9 PRO and have for many years including 2024 tax season (2025) and it worked great.
This year it did not work because I did not have Windows 11 or better.
I had to borrow a Windows 11 laptop computer to do my taxes. My Computer works great for very thing else including the internet. I will not be upgrading my computer so next year I will have to fined a new tax program. I am through with H&R Block.

Been using H&R block software for over 10 years, it continues to work smoothly in the latest edition, no major issues. However, the state software almost missed out on a major deduction from the extra mortgage interest that was capped in the federal part but should be added back on in the state. It allows for the additional deduction to be added back but it should not be hidden away as optional, it should have been automatically calculated from the federal data. I think this oversight made me trust H&R less, I'm not sure if there are other deductions or credits that could be omitted as well.

Cons: Doesn't maximize refund
