I have utilized H&R Block Software for many years. It is easy to use and accurate. Transferring base information from a prior year is seamless. I highly recommend it!

software failed to import prior yr cap loss

i have used hrblock for my taxes for years and have been happy with the results.
sadly this year was a poor experience. i imported my prior year data as usual. when i got to the interview question about carryover capital gain/loss, the software promised that if i had imported, it would carry over the dollars amount. so i continued on. however, when i printed my tax return, there was no carryover as promised. i went back to the carryover interview screen and hand keyed the proper dollar amount provided from the worksheet created by hrblock in 2018. then the screen announced it had carried over the dollar amount for me. lies. had i not noticed this tax software mistake i would have paid $300 too much in tax. people purchase and use the software so they don't have to be tax experts. but had i not noticed the mistake, it would have been costly. you see why i am unhappy. plus after finding this mistake i felt it necessary to check all other parts of my tax returns. could have probably just done the whole thing myself.

I want to file... BUT i have to wait for an update

I want to file tonight, but I must wait for an update. If I filed last week I could have, but I needed to wait for my bank to post files and now I can't file.
Pros: Easy to import documents
Cons: Time consuming

The software has an error for State if Ohio. It incorrectly tried to give me a retirement lump sum total distribution credit. I took a partial not total distribution so did not qualify. I had to manually correct.
Pros: Easy to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have use this tax software for years. Most years it was more involved,this year not so much so I breezed right through.
One part is that when you use it from previous years the past years info is brought forward.
