I have been using Block for 10 years this has been the worst experience that I ever had. I had trouble going back. I had to start over 2 times. I had a business in the past and it was a lot less stressful. I am retired it should have been very easy but it was a pain in the butt. Probably will have to something different in the future .
Cons: Hard to prepare
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I've used H&R block software to do my taxes for 20 or so years, back to when it was Taxcut. This software makes taxes super easy and every year it gets better, HOWEVER, if something weird happens , like my bank making mistakes, H&R Block software becomes nearly impossible to override. There has to be an override button. Also explanations need to be clear, complete and expansive for each question. I'm an ordinary person and sometimes the verbiage is too tax-accountant-speak.
Pros: Easy to prepare, Fast

Error on the 5329 form. Data is not totaling and carrying over to the 1040. In 2024, this worked. Reported and had no resolution. Had to override fields and then could not file electronically. Spoke to three people (all polite but could not help). One had a child or something in the background which is not professional.
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Time consuming
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

HRB Deluxe is very easy to use in my circumstances. I submitted both my Federal and State returns the 2nd week of March, and have already received both refunds. There is one thing I have run into each year since I retired ... during the data input process I am not asked to "Enter the value of all my traditional IRAs as of Dec 31, 202x". This is Line 6 on Form 8606. I am only asked for this input when the Audit Risk runs right before e-filing Federal. Why am I not being prompted for this input during the initial data input process?
