Great software but MAC VA State update is way late

I have used H&R Block MAC Deluxe plus State tax software since 2011 and have been very happy with it until this year. This year was max frustration. First pass through I got to the very last button that said I would not be able to make changes after submitting, but the software decided I needed an update which corrupted my tax file to make it unusable as well as changes to the program itself. After trying to create a new file which also would not work, to deleting the app and supporting files and re installing which also would not work, I probably input my tax info 5 times and no telling how much time I wasted with no success. Finally March 26 a new Virginia State update resolved all my problems. When the software works it is great. Very disappointed that it took until March 26 to correct a problem and wasted so much of my time. Hope H&R Block tests its MAC software and STATE plug in before I buy it again next year!!!
Cons: Hard to prepare
I would recommend this to a friend!

Made doing my taxes easy. There are a few glitches as to how copyright income is entered, and the section on "missing" data was confusing this year, as it always has been. But the rest of the program is great.

I screwed up last year by forgetting to push the "file" button for my Federal return, and now I continue to have MAJOR difficulties in getting back into electronic filing!! I don't know if it is your system or the IRS system. And now the IRS has finally responded to my mailed copy of my 2024 return by depositing a refund that is slightly larger than the one I claimed!
Pros: Easy to prepare
Cons: Doesn't maximize refund

HRBlock state tax software poor user experience.

On the Alabama State Tax Accuracy review Data Verification Tab there is a message: "You are not required to file an Alabama return.". No other information is provided. No explanation provided. This Alabama State Tax Accuracy review message appears only after the HRBlock TaxCut user explicitly declares that all retirement pension income is not taxable by the state of Alabama. HRBlock TaxCut Alabama State software product lacks user guidance in these topics.
On the Alabama State Tax Retirement Income Tab, retirement income listed on 1099R forms for pensions is copied from the Federal 1040 form information. Everything is taxable on the Federal form. The TaxCut user has to declare each item is not taxable by Alabama. HRBlock TaxCut Alabama State version software should determine whither such income is taxable or not. As it is, the HRBlock Alabama State version software declares that ALL retirement income is TAXABLE. HRBlock Alabama state tax software user experience is not good on the issue of retirement pension income.
